    This module controls all the items you mentioned are having faults. 

    Replacement of module involves recoding which isn't difficult with vcds or durametric but coding the existing keys to the new/replacement module is a Porsche piwis job apparently, if I could work out how to do key coding with my vcds I would have replaced mine to fix check tail light issue when pressing brake.

  2. The Porsche gods must really hate me right now because my Cayenne is doing all kinds of weird things. The Cayenne was parked outside in the rain last night. I was woken up by its alarm going off. I went outside to investigate. The rear hatch and glass were both unhitched, meaning the actuator motors for each had unlocked without someone actuating them. Now, neither the rear glass nor the hatch open. I could not turn off the alarm. It finally silenced itself. There is no sign of forced entry, so I'm ruling out that. In addition, the brake lights are stuck on no matter if the ignition is on or off. Also, the rear wiper does not work as well as the rear defroster. Shortly after starting the car, I smelled something burning coming from the rear interior. I replaced the battery seven months ago. Help! What is going on?

  3. Hello everyone, I just installed a Dension 500 BT in my wife's 2006 Cayenne S. The unit seems to work fine, but the PCM does not have the telephone function. I push the "Tel" button, and it says that it is not available. From what I understand the function can be prgrammed into the PCM via PIWIS or Vag Com. Is there anyone in the Sacramento area who has a PIWIS or Vag Com and be willing to help me program my PCM? Specifically, I live in Rocklin. Thank you.

  4. I have to install the Gateway unit close to the driver's area because it also has the microphone for cell phone Bluetooth function. It's my understanding that the Gateway unit has to be the last device in the loop. Currently, the CD changer is. So, that means I have to disconnect the cable that plugs into the CD changer, then plug my new optical cable into that, run it to the front of the car, plug it into the Gateway, and then, from the Gateway, run optical cable to the head unit, thus restoring the loop. Correct? 

  5. Thanks deilenberger. Taking the CD changer out of the loop would be great, but I thought I needed the special part that creates a loop for a MOST device. The installation manual is very vague. I'm confused about how I can take the CD changer out of the loop where it connects to the back of the radio because I thought that all of the MOST devices are connected together like in series. Isn't there just one MOST connector that plugs into the back of the head unit, and wouldn't I unplug everything if I did unplug it?

  6. Yes, the alternator is driven by the serpentine belt. In order to service the alternator, your mechanic would have had to relieve the tension on the belt and remove the belt at least on the pulley attached to the alternator. Now, if your 2003 Cayenne was running on its original belt, it was definitely overdue for a new one. However, it is highly unlikely that both the belt and the tensioner broke at the same time. Perhaps he didn't properly put the belt back in its place after servicing the alternator.

  7. I did a little experimentation and turned on just the ignition without firing up the engine. There is no tranny fluid smell without the engine running. So, when the engine is running, the transmission is under pressure. This leads me to rule out the possibility of risidual ATF that may have spilled somewhere while I was servicing the transmission. I have serviced manual and automatic transmissions before, but never have I smelled gear oil afterward. Of course, this was my first time servicing a sealed tiptronic. So, now I'm thinking that I may have overfilled. If this is the case, does the Cayenne S transmission have an overfill valve or a breather hose?

  8. I'm completely baffled by this one for my 2006 Cayenne S. About two weeks ago I did the whole transmission fluid change service myself including the filter, gaskets, fluid, etc. All went well, and the transmission operates as it should. However, upon start up, and after the truck has sat for a long duration, I get a very brief but distinct whiff of ATF coming through the fresh air vents. It comes and goes within seconds, and that's it. A couple of days ago, I lifted the vehicle and took a look at the tranny plugs, pan, and hard lines. All is dry. The only other thing I can think of is fluid possibly escaping from somewhere in the engine bay area. I don't know much about the mechanism there and how the smell could get into the fresh air intake. Any ideas?
