  1. I have seen a few posts on after market GPS systems and thought I would give folks an option that does not require any installation. I purchased a Magellan 4050 from Costo for $499. This GPS includes birds-eye view, bluetooth and voice recognition. Utlizing the cup holder in my 996, a 2 inch diameter piece of PVC with inset cap and heavy duty velcro I was able to create a portable and easy to read solution that doesn't require mounting on the windshield. Both the GPS and PVC holder fit in the center console. See attached picture for the end result.

Nice install BUT does'nt the GPS unit need to be pointed stright ahead? If at an angle it would assume your pointed in a different direction.

  2. My Boxster would run at 185 on the temp gauge. Now have an 03 C2 and the gauge is between the 185 line and the next line So I'd say it's around 195. Not sure if this too hot or not, the coolant is at min. after a drive so that may be the case of being hot and needs to be topped off. After shutting down the smell frm the engine smells a little like it does when the radiator has over heated. Any thoughs are appreciated!

  3. Overall, seems like a plus to me. New motor has no wear. Latest RMS.

It would be nice to know why the motor was replaced. If it was an RMS fix, then no reason not to buy. If it was because the original owner abused the car (e.g. never changed the oil, downshift overrev, drove through high water), that would be a problem as to the condition of the rest of the drivetrain and the car.

I'm told from the dealer new motor because of "poorly milled chain tower" which I have no clue as to what that is?

  4. Has anyone succesffull upgraded an 03 car to Litronics?

I've read all the posts and it would seem that new harnesses are needed on both sides of the car - possibly not that big a deal...

Would love first hand feedback and part numbers if you have them...

I also mailed Eli at Pelican and Gert. If I get anything back I'll post for all to see.

I'd like to do this over xmas.

I recently traded my 03-S Boxster which had Xenons for an 02-911 with no xenon, part of the deal was to upgrade the 911 to litronics for 1K

The only difference is the upgrade kit is NOT self leveling like the factory installed xenons on the box.

Here is a link to what you need:

  6. One assumes you want to know if this is a good deal........?

Log on to www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com and check out their Used Car pricing calculators - you can put in all the options, as well as cite the condition of the car, which you failed to mention here.....load it all in and see what the experts say.

    Good luck.

Yup, did that and was a fair asking $ by the dealer, however, is there more room to move, both say "it's a starting place for price"

    And condition is excellent.

  7. Dealer is asking 55K for an 02-c2 coupe with 15K miles, Lapis with grey interior options:
