  1. This is strange, I got distracted when putting my airbox back on and forgot to plug the MAF and closed the bonnet. For 3-4 days I was driving around and noticed absolutely nothing wrong with my car. It wasn't until I checked the coolant level that I spotted the MAF was unplugged 3-4 days later, like 75 miles I must have put on the car. No CEL light, no warning nothing. I did plug durametric in the day before and it had the MAF fault but I thought nothing of it and assumed it was an old code from a month earlier when I was doing some diagnostics. Why did I get no EML light or anything? Is my MAF failing ?
  2. Meh, check tip oil. Wouldn't be the first time ive seen a zf pan leaking.
  3. I am now suspicious that I have the Pinion bearing whine issue. I do get a whine on the motorway but what isn't explained is this axle play I get on that bearing http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-forum/579312-anyone-experiencing-a-gearbox-whine-might-want-to-read-this.html
  4. I'd like to have someone with the same tip as mine to just wiggle that shaft to see if it is indeed not normal. Anyone there :(
  5. Hmmmm looks like that bearing that has no number will just be a standard off the shelf single row one.
  6. Sorry it's a 996 C2 Tip 2004 53 I'm rummaging through the parts catalogue but just can't find anything :S
  7. Well I was less lazy this time well I think I have found the issue: http://youtu.be/y2YynTxdFfU Hmph, assuming it's a bearing but I am struggling to find this area on the parts catalogue PDF. Anyone can point me to the area with a PN?
  8. Well I decided to make a video of it instead : http://youtu.be/Tnbu3v_UA-k I can really control that clunk knock with the throttle so easily. I've replaced the rear engine mount, tranny mount and rear fork arms, oh and drop links and tightened sway bar... I am now starting to think something with CV has it really sounds like its coming from that area? If it is the CV area what could it be and what would the fix be?
  9. Am I missing something again? There just isn't enough room to pull this **** thing out :S I'm sure there is a more straightforward way than having to go down the route of removing exhaust components and finding my way to removing that bracket surely?
  10. Nope, CV was fine. I am thinking it's either the upper tuning fork arm thing, as I had to replace the front ones few weeks ago. Or it's the middle bush on the wishbones you get.
  11. Changed the rear links today with no change. I can quite litearlly control the clunk with the throttle. Tiny bit of acceleration on then suddenly off and it makes that little clunk noise. I can even go up and down on the throttle really quickly and make it clunk in the back! Engine mounts fine and tranny mount is fine!
  12. Had a quick look underneath, am I missing something? The only way to access the bolt on the drop link is to take the strutt out ?
  13. Sorted rear airbox with replacement grommets. Still got the suspension noise, annoying.
  14. Also a third thing I've picked up on. At around 70 MPh I get an engine whine, sounds like the whine you can get from an AC compressor but it is at 70 +. I can control the whine with my throttle, 0% pressed and it whines completely, 10% pressed and it goes?
  15. I swear it's my airbox rattling around in the back. If I go over bumps or jumps on the road, it sounds like something in the back is making a right rattle sound. I tightned the bolt on the air box to little affect. Any other ideas? Also I get a rear knocking from my suspension when I go off the throttle. At very very low speeds if I accelerate then suddenly go off it knocks from the rear. Can do it very easily using the throttle, any ideas for that?
  16. I'm getting bit of a high speed shimmy type wobble. I had the fronts rebalanced but I get this wobble at around 85 90 100 mph areas. It's like a slight shimmy, nothing drastic but noticeable. I also notice it on hard acceleration. Any ideas? Everything stock, recently things I've replaced were tuning fork arms, tie rod ends and drop links. Tyres are Pzero with good tread.
  17. If I remember there is a sensor or something above the bolt that needs to be removed. Then you can drop in from the top with an extension and work blind.
  18. Sorry they are 2 separate issues. 1. Is the light clunking I still have. Not sure if this steering rack has anything to do with it. 2. I get a a jumpy idle. I also get a very floating feeling at 70-80 MPH but I am putting this down to GEO for now but not sure if it's a symptom.
  19. another issue up! Replaced control fork arms and my low speed shatter crack thing has gone. But now you can hear a slightly quieter knock. Pretty confident it's on the right side. I've replaced control fork arms, outer tie rods and drop links. Now I was playing with the steering and spotted this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/esagnuyoth6l1mg/20130719_153921.mp4 This can't be normal...
  20. Yes I did. TVPS? Not a clue where that would need cleaning? Is it the electrical connection on the TB?
