  1. I changed the fluid a month or two ago when I was doing my yearly maintenance. thanks for the link.
  2. I replaced the drivers side a few years ago with a used one I bought off e-bay now the passenger one is doing the same thing. thanks for the links.
  3. well doing more testing yesterday I found it was not the CV shaft as I thought. here is what I see now. I jacked up the rear and locked one tire and put the car in gear and moved the other tire back and forth. I heard the clicking sound in the lower gears but not he higher gears. I'm guessing I need a new trans. I attached two sound files I hope you can hear the clicking on the first gear clip on the second clip what you hear is the axle play which is normal. 20180416_182825.3gp 20180416_183021.3gp
  4. the problem I'm having is some time I need to pull the handle a few times to open the door. Thanks I guess I will have to suck it up and order the new locks.
  5. I have been having a problem with drivers door lock for a while and now the passenger side is acting up so I want to replace them both but looking online they want $300 each but looking around I see the VW one looks the same and its they are $40 each. Has anyone tried this before or do you have a suggestion?
  6. The car has started doing this to me while I drive. Lets say I get up to 25mph when I get off the throttle I hear a click when you get back on again it clicks again. I'm not talking about stomping on the gas just a slight touch of the throttle get back up to 25. I don't hear it at highway speeds I think but that could be because of road noise or me go so fast that the noise get left behind. I did find a little play from the drivers side half shaft between the shaft and CV Joint bolted to the axle. Any ideas what it can be? Miles 93547 Manual 6 speed.
  7. my friend this weekend was installing a 2din radio and after he has the new radio in the car the car wont start it wont even turn over (Crank) the lights on the car do turn on. I read about a little wire on the radio that needs to be cut for the alarm what else can it be?
  8. I drove it to work this morning and I think it's OK now. I think it needed some RPMs. I will see again when I get home tonight. I hope it's OK. Thanks JFP
  9. i just changed my water pump tonight and when I started the car i heard clicking from both sides of the engine. It has been sitting for a month or so, I have started over the month but it was only to move it a few feet. can it be that is needs some highway miles or can it be something bigger?
  10. i have been working on the car today and as you said I have power on one leg (red blue wire) I see 13.7 volts so I know that is good. I ran 12 volt power to the valve and I hear and see it move so Im guessing its working. with your idea I think I can use a noid light set to see if I see power pulse on it. I just need to buy a new set Amazon here I come. I ran 12 volt power to the purge valve in the back and as soon as i give it power the engine shuts off. is this normal? Now if someone can get me a wiring diagram so I can test at the dme and see if I have a short or a bad DME.
  11. thanks for all the help. Now I have to work on my 996. I'm replacing both window regulators.
  12. I placed the order for it in September, my friends has the one for the Boxster. I wonder if it's the same book with a few little changes for the 911 996.
  13. I just broke the same little clip on mine this weekend, the strang thing is I have taken apart my friends 996 a few time and never had a problem with his. Oh well.
  14. Thanks I guess next time he has time to bring the car over and I have time to spend in it I will look at the wiring. thanks for your help.
  15. Hello JFP my friend has replaced the gas cap already, I agree with you about using the right part but what can you tell someone that says its the same and insist in using it. Do you know of a way to test each hose and valve? Also what about the pressure or vacuum I hear when I open the gas cap should that not mean that the system is closed and no leaks.
  16. I don't think it is. I'm not sure. I have not heard it like the old one. Why do you ask? Let me add one more thing. If I remove the gas cap I hear something coming from the gas tank I'm not sure if it's pressure or vacuum.
  17. Hi my friend and I are new to the whole Porsche world and our 911. He is not sure if his is running right. I installed a rebuilt engine in it 6 months or so ago and my 996 was used and I have owned it for a few months I cant real tell if they are running right. If you live near Weston or Miami if we can meet somewhere and take the cars for a drive. Thanks
  18. Hello my friends 99 996 started getting this error a few week ago I remember hearing a clicking sound from the valve when the engine was running. P0445 {Solenoid valve 2 for carbon canister Short to ground} I replaced the tank vent valve thats the valve thats located in the back by the intake. Keep in mind my friend did not buy the OEM one he bought one that looks the same but without the little quick connect hose on it. he is still getting the error code. Any ideas where I should look? is there away I can test the whole system. I'm thinking of taking every hose and valve apart and testing each one. Oh by the way it does have a new gas cap. he did tell me tonight that if when he is getting gas he cant run the pump at full speed it shut off on him he told me that if he runs the pump at 75% its fine. thanks in advance for any and all help.
  19. The first time I had to remove my friends alternator I used a pry bar to get it out I did not know about wacking the bolt in a little. I did have to hit it pretty hard for it to go back in at all, I was scared that I was going to mess something up. but id did make it come out easier than the first time but it was not easy it's was still a little of a pain. What I did was I undid the screw a few turns out then hit the head of it with the hammer I would say give it a few hits and try if it does not move hit it a few more times and try again.
  20. I have noticed a car moving at highway speeds make the AC works much better due to a few differences. You get more airflow over the condensers an the flow of air over the car also cools the car off so the AC has less hot air to cool.
  21. Did you ever get the motor on the Dyno? I always said it's easy to make a slow car faster but to make a fast car faster is not easy. I think HP ratings like they advertise you can not just add one and another for your total HP. I don't know just my thought.
