  1. Hi, So after reading through your link and also the other link on that it seems the pentosin is suitable, and even one guy was told by the dealer that's what they use. Interesting, Anyway im going to try the pentosin as I have a bottle. Thanks
  2. Hi, A few members of the UK forums have done the same with no issues, I just wonder what the specs are for the Porsche specific fluid. I called the OPC and they said they would call back but nothing yet. I have used Pentosin in all my previous cars hydraulic systems with no issues. Thanks for you input.
  3. Hi, That's great, I appreciate your help. Im going to give the local centre a call and see what they supply over here. Cheers
  4. Hi, When I punch the parts number you gave into ebay.uk up pops 2 different types, One from Germany with that number and it says Porsche approved Pentosin CHF11s and the other is Porsche specific fluid only in the U.S. Do you know the spec of this Porsche fluid? Cant seem to find any info on it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-911-Convertible-Top-Hydraulic-Pump-Fluid-250-ml-NEW-NS-/151512710209?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2346dc7c41 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PENTOSIN-Hydraulikol-Getriebeol-Servool-CHF-11S-1-Liter-/181528587432?pt=Autopflege_Wartung&hash=item2a43f26ca8
  5. Hi, Thanks for your reply, It is power steering fluid but is a synthetic hydraulic fluid used in different applications including hydraulics for convertible roofs, I was wondering if it is ok to use/mix with the original fluid used back in 99. Cheers
  6. Hi, My 99 cab top fluid is low and the current fluid is orange, Does anyone know if pentosin CHF11S is suitable to mix, Made by Comma and is green in colour. thanks
  7. Hi, Does anyone know if the rear seat belt unit is the same for the Cabriolet and the coupe on a 1999 C4? thanks
  8. Hi, Mostly ebay buying as i went along. Check other reply for more info. Cheers
  9. Hi, Seats are from a low mileage 2004 boxster and are mint condition, Door panels i bought in seperate auctions for about $90 each. Rear panels and seat cushions were dyed with leather dye and look brand new. Dash was from a 996 and was only about $150 and in great condition. All other bits and bobs bought on ebay for small money. Regarding the Fatmat sound proofing, I felt the car was too noisy at motorway speeds and wanted to quiet it down a bit which i think i have although if someone has a cab and the iphone decibel app then it would be interesting to test at 70 mph to see what the difference would be. Best thing is i think i have put the car together much better as there are no rattles or squeeks like before. Also had coilovers fitted and wheels spacers which make the car look and drive much better than before probably due to tired shocks etc. Cheers
  10. Hi, I bought it from Carnewal and comes with everything required, Basically you fit a resistor between the two airbag wires. Thanks
  11. Hi, Thanks, Im very happy with it. There were lots of loose screws etc which explains the rattles, Now all gone. Carpets were soaked due to blocked drains, Again all gone. Changed the dash bulbs to red for the bottom of cluster and blue for clocks and looks more modern now. Fitted some wheel spacers aswell and had coilovers put on a few weeks ago. New indicator stalk which fixed the not working self cancelling indicator issue. Next stop, GT3 bumper and skirts.
  12. Hi, Full strip out and replaced in black, Also sound proofed and new wheel. Heres some photo's. Cheers
  13. Hi, Used some tiger seal both inside and out and its been bone dry for a few days of heavy rain. Cheers
  14. Hi, I have totally stripped out the interior as the carpets were soaked, After unblocking the rear and front drains I thought that it would be ok, The rear is bone dry now however water is coming in through the area in the photo. There is very little water in the front under the bonnet as the drain is clear yet after 1 day of light rain I have a small puddle in the drivers footwell and its dripping in through here which is just above the accelerator pedal. Want to put her back together but need to figure out how to stop this, Any ideas? Thanks
  15. Hi, Im thinking of a few jobs for my 99 C4 Cabriolet and one of them is changing the interior from grey to black, Im trying to figure whats compatible between the coupe and cab, Would I be correct in saying the dash, Doors, Seats, Carpet and centre console are the same fit? I realise the rear quarter cards are different but was wondering about the rest. Also is the centre console for a 986 boxster a straight fit? I was hunting for a black on black Cab when I bought it but couldn't find one mechanically right or in mint condition bodywork wise so decided to buy this and change in the future. Might put some sound proofing in whilst the car is stripped depending on JohnnyDangerous's results. Getting some coilover's fitted soon and going to change my rims at some point too. thanks
  16. Hi, Does anyone know how to/how difficult it is to replace the mohair roof on a 1999 C4, My rear screen has split and I can get a hood with glass window for a good price but was wondering if it is a DIY job. Thanks
  17. Hey, So today I decided to remove the hardtop as im going to do some coilover work and need access to the top mounts. As I put the soft top up I heard a crack and the rear plastic screen shattered, It was very brittle. Anyone know if you can just replace the plastic? On a better note I managed to get the pins on the hardtop to seat properly. the two nuts on the rear pins can be slackened and the pins are in slotted holes, A shove forward and they are now seated at the front. Now to search for a new screen
  18. You are going to need to take the strut out of compression, which means removing it and the carrier from the car, in order to disassemble the strut from the carrier so that the strut and spring can safely be taken apart. The axel will stay in the car during this process however. If you have access to the 996 Bentley manual, the entire process is fully documented (with photos). Hi, Im actually fitting coilovers so really what I meant was the carrier, strut and spring in one go. Sorry for not being clear. So I can squeeze it out then. thanks Doh, Excuse me I've had a couple of beers, So the carrier needs removed which the axle is attached to thus removing the 32mm nut and a few ball joints? I was hoping I could unbolt the top mount and force the carrier down to remove the strut and spring etc. thanks again
