  1. Thank you for the reply. Is there any wire in the engine compartment I may use rather than run the wire all the way forward or, do you know of an easy route from the engine compt to the location under the center forward console? Thanks again.
  2. I have a valvetronic exhaust installed on my 2004 996tt. The "on-off" switch is currently wired to the parking light positive, which means in order for the switch to function, the parking lights must be "on". Can anyone suggest an alternate wire in the engine compt that I may tap into that will be fully functional when the engine is started, or the key is turned to the acc position? I would really appreciate some advise. Thanks
  3. Interesting idea, my mechanic just came up with the same observation. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the response, but the noise does not occur when the vehicle is moving, just after the key is turned off when stopped or when you get in the car just prior to starting. It is a very fast clicking like some type of electrical mouse. It may be a normal sound, but I never heard it before in a car. It lasts for about 10 seconds.
  5. After stopping the 2004 996TT Cab it will make a fast clicking noise which comes from behind the dash between the globe box and nav screen. Only happens on starting and stopping lasts about 10 seconds. No warning lights are lit everything else works fine, just want to make sure it is a quirk of the car not something more intense. Thanks
  6. Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the information. Not familiar with a hybrid turbo other than hearing the name, will look into that. Thanks again!
  7. I have a 2004 996tt with X-50, headers, 200 cell cats, free flow exhaust, BMC air filter and silicone intercooler hoses. Can any suggest a way to decrease turbo lag? Just wrote to FVD re their software helping and they indicated it would not help the lag. The car only has 10,000 miles on the clock. Thanks.
  8. I have a small oil leak, about 5-6 drops, after a 7 mile drive, aft of the headers and turbos on my 996tt/x50. I had spilled some oil during an oil change about 6 months ago, but used a couple of cans of brake cleaner since to try to clean out any residual oil. Did not leak at all prior to the oil change. Anyone know the possible sources of the leak in that area, seals, etc? BTW, the car only has 10,000 miles on the clock and is a 2004 cab. Thanks for any suggestions.
  9. On a 996tt 2004, after a hard run with engine up to temp. where should the fluid level be on the dip stick for Pent 11 fluid level. I did the 10-30 clutch pump and checked the level when cold. Had to remove some fluid for it to read in the "cold" zone, but now with the engine up to temp no fluid shows on the dip stick? Thanks
  10. Anyone have a solution for covering and/or removing the sunvisor decals, particularly on the vanity mirror side but the other side as well. I have thought of carbon fiber film, but mostly concerned with the vanity side on the cabrio. Thanks for your help. Also if you have advice on removing the lighted mirrors, that would be appreciated.
  11. Some drops of oil Still on the floor after driving. Been almost a month since the spill during the oil change, the leak amount has not changed, the oil level indication has not changed. Anyone know the quantity of oil I could expect if it was a seal? The car has 9,800 miles on it, 996tt 2004. Thanks
  12. Thanks, level remains fully topped up. Cap was not spec tight so torqued it on, leak seems to be subsiding and does not appear to be seal, thankfully. Thanks!
  13. I will give it a try Loren. There isn't any oil on the "lip" around the cap, but will give it a try anyway. Oil only leaks after a few mile run. Thanks
  14. Tried to figure this out myself, but no luck. The car has had -0- oil leaks. I changed the oil , filter etc. and now I have a leak, not bad, but should not be happening. Spilled about one quarter quart into the filler area (engine compt) when changing the oil etc. Not coming from the oil filler tube, oil filter cap, or either of the drain plugs under the engine. Seems to be coming from the middle rear of the engine. Is this just left over oil that I could not reach or perhaps something that was affected by the spill? Any ideas? Thanks
  15. I may be starting to sound like a commercial, but I just received jacking pucks for my 996tt. Please notice the hockey puck, the undersized example and then the piece received from http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com . Comparable price, but the Maxspeed units do not fall out when you are trying to position the jack and with a hockey puck below it, there is instant complete protection. I plan to epoxy a hockey puck to the metal jacking puck to allow for plenty of room. Nice to see an excellent product at a reasonable price.
  16. Thanks for the feedback. I agree, it really does not make sense. Thanks again!
  17. Anyone have any experience with this unit (Fabspeed Porsche 996TT Turbo GT2 Sport High Performance Airbox Intake)? It would seem to me that the design would allow the hot air from the engine compartment to enter the air filter, not just the cold air. I am sure I could be wrong, but interested in buying one so would like an opinion or two from people with experience. Thanks in advance for your input.
  18. Thanks, Maybe I was too picky re "thin wall", but I had a heck of a time trying to find it. Finally, as it would only happen to me "I found a "5/8 with the rubber insert" in one of my tool chests and 2 w/o the insert. Thanks for your help guys!!
  19. Does anyone know where I can buy a spark plug socket for the 996TT plugs? Preferrably magnetic or with the rubber internal retainer? Thanks
  20. Contact Nello at Maxspeed ( maxspeedmotorsports.com ) and he will give you a price or visit the website. The build quality and materials is equal to the $3,000+ mfgs at substantially less $. I actually traded for the install, but you could probably figure $600-800. Nice addition to the car.
