  1. View this tutorial Starter Remove/Replace I hate tutorials where people just post a list of instructions... I can read, but I like pictures better. I have attached the Porsche instructions for reference. This is an easy repair in terms of technical difficulty but the physical difficulty is up there unless you have arms & hands the size of a 5-year old. You will never see the upper bolt until it falls out. You will see that I have remove the counter-weights from the shift lever - this is not necessary for the starter Author SliderG35 Category TT/GT2 (996) - Common Fixes and Repairs Submitted 10/18/2018 03:05 PM

  3. The thread has been re-imported (well. most of it anyway). Chuck made it sound like EBWorks was responsible for the total pooching of the thread because EBWorks isn't a sponsor any more. I wonder if they go back and delete all the threads people ever posted when they stop being sponsors?
  4. Hey - 6SO has put the thread back. They are still working on merging the last thread into the new one, but when it is finished, you'll find it here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/group-buys/302973-996-l-e-d-rear-tail-lights.html . I think it would be prudent to keep this one going too, so I'll post updates in both places.
  5. It looks like UrbanHotRod on 6SP has stepped up and fixed this so the thread will be back on 6SO tomorrow. Apparently they are going to move it to a "Group Buy" section. I'm not sure what that will look like, but I'll be looking for it.
  6. Done - we're up to 222! Stats are here: http://www.comtech.ws/scripts/GroupBuy.dll/Home
  7. Excellent - happy to see people are still following. Since I have the 6SO names, I can always go back to 6SO and PM all parties when the product is available. I can probably write something to do it automatically, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
  8. You do not have to resubmit if your name is already on the list. We can just move on with the new guys...
  9. This thread is here to replace the one that was on 6SpeedOnline but deleted because it was considered a "Group Buy". The whole synopsis is described here: http://www.comtech.ws/scripts/GroupBuy.dll/home but here is a quick recap... The initial thread was created to show vendors the interest in a product for which no vendor was willing to commit to production because vendors thought there would be no profit in it. I had approached CarGym and asked what kind of numbers would be required to make the project profitable for them. I expected that other vendors would require the same participation to beat their bottom line as well. Originally, CarGym stated that they needed 250 orders at $600 each before they would consider going forward. (Apparently the cost for producing the mould is upwards of $120K.) After the great response on 6SO, they said they would start development immediately. So, in Jan 2013 they started working on the project. They are currently developing the drawings. They said that they expect about 6 months from start to production. I have been maintaining a list of members who are committed to the purchase when the product is available. This list should identify the first people to receive the LEDs before they are available to the general public. The list is available at the link specified at the start of this thread. If you want to be included in the list, please state you commitment here and I will add you to the list. Please don't put your name in unless your are ready to pay $600 for a set. I will be evaluating the prototypes and detailing product reviews as they become available. No one will be happy if the quality isn't there, so I will be very critical of the first products to make sure they will meet or exceed OEM quality.
  10. OK, my memory letters/numbers light up. Perhaps it's time for you to remove the panel and check to see that the plugs are properly connected.
  11. So let's get the facts perfectly clear - you set the memory as described above. Then you move the seat. Then, when you press 1 (all by itself - no "M") any time the ignition is on - the seat does not move back to the memory location. Is that what is happening?
  12. I fixed mine by using carbon fibre. The CF mount is a little more flexible than the original plastic. I fixed it a year ago and it's still good.
  13. I have started a thread on 6Speed to get a feel for who is interested in rear LEDs for the wide-body 996. Currently there are absolutely no vendors who produce a light that will fit. Sure, you can get rear LEDs for every other model 996, 997 and 20 different other cars, but Nada for us. I found a manufacturer who is willing to produce them (they already make LEDs for a bunch of other models) but we need to have 250 commitments in place at $600 per pair for them to do it. So far we have 82 on 6Speed, but we are not getting the numbers fast enough. So, I'm expanding the search to get people from as many forums as I can find. For clarity, I'm trying to collect the numbers all in one place. The 6Speed thread is here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-turbo-gt2/287568-996-rear-leds-vendor-sponsored.html Please have a look and participate if you would like to update your rear lights, either because they are damaged or just to modernize the look. Thanks, Karl
