  1. I am currently having a problem with slow top opening and closing, as well as clamshell not closing completely when lowering top. I have topped up the hydraulic fluid on two occasions which was a temporary fix. I have not been able to locate a fluid leak, but there must be one somewhere. any tips on where to look would be greatly appreciated. I have performed minor DIYs like replacing brake light switch and headlight bulbs. Haven't performed any major jobs as this is my DD and I fear that I might screw up something leading to a long downtime with no way to travel.

  2. I replaced the regulator with ebay replacement part. Window still won't drop. I can hear the motor run when I open the door, but window won't drop. I can still push window down 1/2 inch or so, and it will go up and seal when door is closed. I am confused about what to do at this point. I had read previously that if you could push the window down the regulator needed to be replaced. I just replaced it 2 days ago. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  3. Finally got my cab back from dealer after 3 weeks. I have learned a valuable lesson. As others have already posted, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of keeping the drains and trays clear. Experience is the best teacher, but it has been a very expensive class. Some of the dumbest engineering design decisions I have ever seen. Despite the cost and my stupidity, I felt so good when I picked up my cab yesterday and drove that sucker. Think I'm a 996 addict.

  4. Thank you kbrandsma. I did indeed find quite a bit of water behind driver's seat, as well as a pool of water under driver's seat. I have removed CLU and hope to dry it. Did this earlier today, and even though door remote wasn't working, the car started. I drove it about 4 miles to my home. I then did what I guess was a dumb thing. I placed key in ignition, switched car on, and held fob button down for 10 seconds. Apparently this attempt to resync didn't work. Back to engine not turning over when attempting to start. Any suggestions? Thank you again.

  5. Hi,

Here are my facts. I really need your advice.

I have a 2003 Carrera 996 cab. After a hard rain I discovered the following problems:

    (1) Water under the driver's seat

    (2) Key fobs light up but will not unlock doors.

    (3) Alarm works when I manually lock door with key.

    (4) After unlocking door manually with key, alarm goes off after about 10 seconds.

    (5) Car battery is strong, and I don't believe it to be my problem.

    (6) When attempting to start car, all dash lights and gauges work, but engine will not turn over.

    (7) Alarm lights on dash flash appropriately

Is the problem my central locking unit, and if so is it possible to dry it and make it work again?

If I need to replace CLU, what is approximate cost, and is this a plug and play swap, or is programming required?

This is my DD and I need to get it back on the road. My dealer is 80 miles away. I was told by them today that there was no way to start and drive the car there, and that it would have to be transported. Is this correct?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance,

    Roy Parnell

  6. My 03 cab key fob suddenly stopped working. Will not remotely lock or unlock doors with either key. It will not start the car either. Inserting either key will unlock or lock the door, but not disable to alarm. Will also lower or raise top and lower windows. So what could cause this? Tried removing ground cable from car battery for about 5 minutes, hoping for a reset. No apparent change. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
