  1. my car has the standard suspension, can u tell me what the part # is? TIA
  2. i tried searching on the net for inner caliper seals for my 99 C4 but cant find any, can anyone direct me to a site or vendor? TIA
  3. i recently found from the archives that the rebuild kit for my 996 calipers only include outer dust boots, i assume ill need more than those as i feel that the pistons might be sticking. and that i have to buy a new caliper if the inner seals need to be replaced. I would appreciate help from those who found the inner seals from other sources before i proceed in rebuiling them TIA.
  4. loren, yes i have rebuilt calipers before, thanks again. paul, ill try pagids during the rebulid thanx
  5. loren, i got the car used and there are no signs that the brake fluid was replaced by the original owner. when i did flush the fluid it was dark but there werent rust or water. how do i check the vaccum booster and can u dive me the part number for the caliper rebuild kit? thanx to all who replied
  6. the brakes on my 99 C4 tip feel weak whenever i use them from 50mph and more. they dont give the expected braking power proportional to the pressure i apply on the pedal. I recently just flushed the brake fluid using the motive bleeder hoping to improve things, but the brakes still give me a scare when i stop from speed. the rotors and pads seem ok as the car has run under 20,000 kilometers. any suggestions on what to do next? TIA
  7. we have replaced the fuel pump and the car starts easily and fixed the bogging as well. hope this helps other guys with the same problem.
  8. is ur car a turbo? i do belive that is a must to cool down the turbo/s by letting the oil circulate after a hard run. as my car is not i think is just a waste of gas. thanks for ur reply.
  9. loren/tool pants/izzy/ anybody! :( my 99 C4 tip has an annoying habit of bogging (refusing) to rev beyond 2000rpm either after a hard run or after a hour of being used. depressing the gas pedal only exaggerates the bogging. after letting the car sit for 15-20 mins it requires 5 or more tries to start, and prolonged ones at that before it catches and finally starts. But once it does start, it drives like a dream. aside from the hassle, the sheer embarassment of being the center of attention with such fine piece of machinery refusing to start is worse. the car has only run 14000 kilometers. i suspect lack of fuel (relay?pump?) i have replaced the fuel filter and drained the tank 1week ago in suspect of bad fuel. your help will be much appreciated.
  10. i ran my 99 C4 tip moderately hard today and after all the adrenaline rush, i park the car and after 30mins it wont start. the engine turned over but did not catch. on my 6th try it caught and started fine. this is the 3rd time since i got the car this happens after a hard run. my car only has 15,000 kms (9,300miles) btw. battery is fine, lites/radio/elecrtics work. ive searched this site but cudnt find answers. ur thoughts wud be appreciated.
  11. ah yes ur right abt hids needing warm-up, thanks for ur reply.
  12. ive just upgraded to litronics on my 99 C4, but am curious if i replace the high beams with a hid conversion kit ( equivalent only to 250dlrs here in manila) will i get a cel or the like? i have an impression that porsches are kinda sensitive to these electronic upgrades and wud appreciate ur thoughts. by the way, the kit comes complete with all hardware ang is a 30 minute job to do.
  13. i see, id better forget about that idea then. thanks for your replies
  14. i plan to upgrade to an aftermarket headunit. contrary to most, i actually prefer an audible warning that the car is armed and locked when i push the remote on the fob. will i experience my horn going off everytime i go through a bump if i dont tape off the portion mentioned in this thread? :( TIA
  15. hi gas-man, nice to hear from a filipino on this site. i noticed the brake issue on the way from the province, the weather was hot then, i didnt encounter any rain. its not a good idea to bring in a used car to home because the cost of taxes are insane, u are better off buying a new 997 or search for a used one. prices of porsches are very expensive again due to tax and used ones are also expensive becoz these cars are uncommmon on manila streets.
  16. i find my brakes shinier than usual. their appearance is somewhat highly polished for the lack of a better description (and photos). the wear on them are even but am a bit apprehensive because they seem like symptoms of sticking brakes but only when i come to a stop at lights or traffic. thanks for your responses.
  17. sorry for posting on the 997 site (sheesh) anyway the brake pads and fluid are still original. the brakes were cleaned by the only porsche dealer in manila prior to my purchase of the car. the discs look shiny from the outer edge right down to the inner edge of the rotor. they work fine until as i mentioned in my previous post, i need to step on the gas a little bit more to get the car moving from a stop. where whould i start checking? TIA.
  18. ive noticed recently that my brake discs front and rear seem shiny. i also feel that it takes a bit more gas to get moving from a stop. my car is a 99 c4 tip. are my brakes sticking and what do u recommend?
  19. i recently discovered that my 99 C4 tiptronic coupe has a non functioning alarm. both keys work fine, the indicator flashes, and the doors lock with the remote. but when i opened the car manually, the alarm does not sound. i also found out that the prevoius owner had hooked up a set of aftermarket horns. is the alarm systm connected to the horns and the said modification might be at fault? is reprogramming the alarm a function only a PST2 can do? your thoughts pls. TIA
  20. yes i do, will do that. thanks loren
  21. i wish to become a contributing member but my country (philippines) isnt included in the site that will allow me to open/register a paypal account. ur help pls. thanks again to all who responded to my queries.
  22. i need help on how to properly remove the alternator from my 99 C4 tip. theres an unusual noise emanating from it. pictured guide/s will be most helpful. TIA
