  1. Hi Guys, Sorry, the car is a 2010 911 997 series 2 Carrera 3.6 manual, UK model. There is no on screen indication of any warning message, just when you switch it on a 'boot up' screen appears showing the Porsche logo on a white background. I can then hear this 'pinging' noise coming from the rear of the unit every 15 seconds or so. The boot up screen then may disappear for a few seconds and then comes back on. Sometimes after 20 minutes or so it might spring into life and work normally, otherwise I withdraw the fuse to switch it off completly. My dealer has had a look at it and said they have never heard of the problem before and as usual, it worked fine when they were looking at it. Many thanks for your replies though guys, I am sure it's going to have to go back in, but with the colder weather, it's working every time now. I am sure it is temperature related. Best regards. Barry.
  2. Hi Guys, I am having a problem with the PCM in my 911 but only in hot weather. When trying to switch it on, I get the Porsche bootup screen appear and a 'pinging' noise coming from within the unit every few seconds, but the unit will not switch on. When the temperature cools off overnight the unit works fine. Now it's colder here in the UK during the day, the unit switches on instantaneously every time but I am dreading next summer! Any suggestions please? Many thanks. Barry.
