do a google search - there are quite a few companies offering this service. You need radio serial number and vehicle VIN code (any porsche vin code). Charges are anywhere from 15 to 45 depending on where you go.

thanks Loren - appreciated. I just looked at the last four digits of the VIN and engine number and saw they were different so assumed that meant that it was not the original motor. Everywhere I read, it seems to stress how 'valuable' it is to have maching numbers

wow - quick repsonse , many thanks ! Sorry, it was a 1985 911 Carrera. My research on the VIN shows it was imported from the states (i am in Australia), but it appears to be not the original motor - but I am a novice ! I understand from my research that the last four numbers of the VIN should match the last four of the engine number. The VIN is WP0AB0917FS121230 so it looks like the motor is from a very similar model, but not the original one. Would that be correct? thanks again :huh:
