  1. Maybe a ball joint going bad, tough to do over the net.

I would lift the front end off the floor and start the car and then move the wheel from side to side to figure it out, The problem with this method is unless there is a load on the vehicle you may not get the result your looking for, then load [lower] the vehicle and see if you can get it to do the same thing.

If it is a P/S pump going bad you may have a screeching sound as the pump locks up and the belt cycles over it.

One more thing, maybe drive in a empty parking lot until it happens then stop and check it out.

    Good Luck,

    Scott

    THANKS...................BRAD

  2. It also could be your serpentine belt, I don't know the age of your vehicle or your maintenance schedule.

It's worth checking, if you don't find it low - you will look for cracks and degradation.

Thanks, belt was just changed at 60000 mile service in Feb. I'll check fluid and report back.

OK, I checked the fluid level and it's OK. It happened again...this time the steering wheel seemed stuck after I stopped the car and came free with a little pop at the the front wheels after I played with the steering wheel. Almost like the front tires where stuck on something. ?????

  3. OK, please take it easy on me guys. I'm sure this is an old topic of discussion, but I'd like the best opinion from the experts so here it is. I need new tires. I'm easy on my car, never over 100 mph, mainly 85 tops, no racing, although I do enjoy a back road whenever I can. I'm not rich so I need one good set of tires for year round driving....that means some snow for a month or so a year , here in Lexington, Ky. Boxster 99. Thanks as always.... Brad

  4. Update on Mr. Clean. At first I thought this was a God send product. Oh well... I quess I wanted it to work so I convinced myself it did. Maybe it's like most first versions on things....the second and third will be better. This product just doesn't live up to the hipe, takes too much soap, too much rinse time and cartridges...and you can do a better job by hand. Sorry if my first post got someone to buy one...Brad

  5. OK... here's the breakdown..(No dealer here in Lexington)

    Parts $640

    Labor $458

    oil

    oil filter

    brake disc 2

    brake pad set

brake pad sensors (Should this be a separate thing from the pads ?)

    fuel filter

    spark plugs

    air filter

    acc cabin filter

    poly rib belt

What do you think? Thanks Brad

  6. I'm so dumb. I'm taking my 99 Boxster into the shop Wed. at 7am to have them check it out because I just got it and at 60,000 miles I wanted them to look at it. They are going to change the oil and do a 60,000 mile maint. At $600 est. I just realized I should have been asking you guys what really needs to be checked. IS ANYBODY OUT THERE, OUT THERE.....out there ? Thanks a lot... Brad

  7. I just got my 99 Boxster. It's been ice cold here in Lexington, Ky., and I've just test run putting down the top for the first time. It's a new plastic rear window, since the dealer I bought it from cracked the last one when it was frozen. The window seems to fold bumpy, funny, not smooth. Is there a trick, or will it be ok when it's really warm enought? Thanks....Brad
