  1. all your spending is $3200?

    consider yourself lucky.

I am rebuilding my engine also, I bought apr rod bolts on recommendation from lne as this is apprently another weak spot of the engine. apr publishes torque specs on their site.

    http://arp-bolts.com/kits/ARPkit-detail.php?RecordID=1203

    click on kit instructions

my new pistons from LNE came with ring instructions but I doubt that's universal. when I asked the other board about it, jake came in and said it's up to the engine builder really.

  2. thanks once again. the advice & tips are really appreciated.

Y2K911 - I sent jake an email about a student of his in my area that was recommended to me by an air cooled Porsche builder in the area. Jakes response was that this person was a great student but wouldn't know of he's done the engine before...

I'm thinking of taking his online course in Sept and then deciding if it's worth to spend another 2k in tools or just send it out

  3. maybe take this one bolt at a time.

bearing carrier case. any published specs there? I can start with that next week when I get everything back from the machine shop.

can I reuse the bolts? I got apr rod bolts on LNE recommendation , but I want to know if I should get new bolts to reassemble the bearing carrier...I know going new should always be the answer but if I was to do that, I'd be spending over $2000 in bolts. that isn't a joke. if they aren't stretch bolts, I should be able to reuse some of these??

  4. my cylinders are scored to hell and the car was driven in the winter on Ocassion (we can get to -40 celcius). I don't think that was my issue though. once I split the cases I saw the timing chain paddle plastic had broken off in peices, clogged my oil pick up and caused oil starvation. actually...maybe being started in the cold caused the plastic to break.....hmmmmm

I bought the LNE thermostat to put in once I Re assemble. it's supposed to prevent this from what I've read.
