  1. I replaced the auxiliary battery in the truck, but was thinking more about what you said regarding the main battery. I left my car parked for several months with only a solar trickle charger connected to the rear trunk cigarette socket. The battery died in August, as reported by my vehicle tracking device. I attended the vehicle in October and had to jump start with a remote jump start device. I drove the car for 2 hours and when I switched off it wouldn't start.

    I had the main battery changed under the seat and the car started every time after that. Then I discovered that I had the auxiliary battery fitted and changed it. When i tested the old auxiliary battery it had 12.6 volts charge and then when I connected my battery conditioning charger it showed fully charged. Which actually indicated to me that the AUX battery is still ok.

    So my query is that the vehicle should have started before I replaced the main battery but it didn't (because the auxiliary battery is good). That leads me to think the starter battery is the one under the seat....... I also read the Porsche auxiliary manual that talked about the auxiliary battery and that electrical load is from this one....But why wouldn't this be the case for my situation....?

    I can't see anything within PIWIS about the auxiliary battery setup. How can I check the charging logic is working as it should? Also why would the rear AUX battery be used for starting when the starter motor is at the furthest point and longest cable run from it?

    Finally I still get the time out message to save battery when parked and listening to the PCM.....I would have thought the time out would be longer for an AUX battery setup vehicle.

  2. Yeah me too, I replaced my under seat battery and then found there is another battery in the trunk. Was an optional extra. However my car started ok once the under seat battery had been replaced. The one in the trunk is a Varta battery so has been changed at some point in time since the car was new. The old one under the seat was a Porsche battery. I will probably have the trunk battery tested before replacing it but will replace it anyway, as I park my car for months at a time between use.

  3. I have been struggling all day to get my rear park assist working. The front works ok but the rear would always show immediately the red lights. On the PIWIS or Durametric analyser it showed the rear sensors were short circuit to +B.

    The rear bumper looks as though it had been repainted as well as the sensors, so I removed one rear sensor and plugged it in to the front harness. This resulted in the front system giving red light and not working.

    So next I removed the rear sensors and buffed off the paint and re fitted. Now when putting the car in reverse it momentarily shows the green lights for about 2 seconds before turning red. Also now PIWIS does not show any fault codes for the sensors.....so it looks like the sensors are now working ok.

    But without any fault codes I'm a bit lost for what to try next.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  4. Hi,

    I just replaced the main battery under the seat and while looking through the hand book found pictures of a battery in the trunk. When u removed the Bose unit there it was. I will replace it anyway as it is from 2006 so probably the original unit. But can anyone let me know the functionality of the two batteries, is there any user interaction required to switch from one to the other, which is the "main" battery?

  5. Hi,

    I recently went over to France with my 2006 Cayenne last week and placed my French toll tag just to the left side of the internal rear view mirror. But the toll gates don't read the tag. I tried waving the tag around inside different parts of the entire screen but still no joy. Only way was to wind down the drivers window and hold the tag outside of car!

    It works fine in my Carrera C4S just next to the rear view mirror.

    Does anyone have any advice if it's possible to get the tag to be read when mounted inside the windscreen?

  6. I recently purchased a 2006 Cayenne turbo S and the TPM system wasn't working. So I purchased a new set of wheel sensors on eBay and took the winter wheels to my local garage for them to for the new sensors. They fitted the sensors and I picked up the wheels around 6 hours later.

    I fitted the wheels on to the Cayenne the next day, but since then the monitoring system is still not recognising the wheels. Is it because the wheels weren't fitted on to the car immediately the sensors were installed? Any suggestions to get then working?

  7. Hi Richard, that's what I thought but on contacting an online navigation place they said there is a 2014 version that will be the last update for the PCM 2.1

    I have ordered a copy and will update here if it actually did update the navigation beyond the 2012 set that I already have installed.

    It would be great if Porsche could release the editing tools required to allow third-parties to continue updating the maps beyond 2014 if Porsche have now stopped supporting updates for the PCM 2.1 ........
