  1. I just got the same code on my 2004 TT. I have a Gemballa exhaust. One of the recommendations was to check the voltage at the sensor, but it didn't say what the voltage should be. How does the DME flash work? Does it just disable the light? Any other recommendations?
  2. Does anyone know the o-ring size for the smaller o-ring used with the oil filter for the 996 TT? I have an oil filter from my C2, but it only has the larger o-ring included. Porsche does not offer the smaller o-ring by itself. It only comes with the filter purchase.
  3. L & N Engineering http://www.lnengineering.com/drainplug.html I sent them an email and they said they don't carry any of the 4 drain plugs I asked about. Any other sources?
  4. I was told that I can use my standard 996 oil filter for my 996 Turbo. I had a 2002 C2 that I have a filter left over from. Just getting a second opinion.
  5. I made the bad assumption that all four bolts that hold the airbag in the door were the same size. They vary in length very slightly, but I don't see any interference behind the door. Does it matter where they go?
  6. Thanks guys, but it's not in the left-most position of the controller behind the seat, and as I mentioned it is not on the immobilizer under the seat either. I'm completely baffled. I don't think that it is a bad Porsche module. If a module went bad, it must be an aftermarket one, which what I'm trying to locate. At one time it did operate in a one-touch mode and while moving. So, something must have been altered someplace. I wonder if it is a hack with no hardware involved. Very strange.
  7. Success. The pink piece needs a bit of encouragement. I heeded the "old plastic" comment by slightly heating the connector with a hair dryer. I took an awl and poked the locations "A" until they sprung out far enough for me to pull it away from the connector. It doesn't come all the way out, just pulls away. Then with a small, flat screwdriver pushed away axially from the connector at "B". I'm not sure if you need to the first part, but I couldn't get connector to come out with some force. I didn't want to push it, so I went ahead and pulled the pink piece back. Thanks for the help.
  8. By "main connector" do you mean at the top controller behind the rear seat? if so, which of the three connectors should it be in?. It is not in the most outboard one, where all the Smarttop modules I saw on line were connected.
  9. Here is one that seems to have everyone stumped, and I was hoping that someone has a place for me to start looking, because I'm out of ideas. I bought my 2004 cab and it must have been altered for the roof actuation. It was one-touch up and down, and I didn't need to be stopped. Very weird thing happened several months ago and I've been looking for a solution and I am stuck. The roof now only works when the car is in motion. That's right, only in motion. If I stop the car, the roof stops it's transition. First thing I did was to go online to see what aftermarket things are available. I found two. One piggy-backs in line with a connector at the control unit behind the rear passenger seat, and the other piggy-backs in line into the immobilizer below the seat. Neither of those are on my car. Earlier I thought it might be the syncing of the two flap motors, because at that time I didn't realize I could get it up or down with the car in motion. When my Porsche shop went to sync the motors, the guy told me he got a weird fault. With the car turned off, he was getting an error that the car was moving at 13mph. He reset it and we tried the top standing still and the top cycled several times. When I drove it home, the next day it would not transit again until in motion. Is there anything else in the DME, immobilizer or top controller that can cause this problem? What other mods are out there? The top controller seems to be an original Porsche part (see pic) I'm willing to take it into Porsche and ask them to get it back to original condition, but I don't want them doing a swap-till-you-drop approach, which would kill me in cost. I'd like to have a bit more targetted approach. Anything else I can try?
  10. I need to disconnect the airbag in the passenger door in my 2004 cab. I know you have to disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes, but I can't find anywhere where it tells you how to disconnect this connector. Not sure if I slide the purple piece back, or pull it out? doesn't look like it slides back. It looks like a couple of reliefs to pop it towards me, but it almost looks like one of those splicing connectors. Then does the forward piece simply slide forward to disconnect?
  11. I just bought a 996 with a PCM-2 navigation capable radio. Reception is awful, so I want to just use the navigation portion. I can't figure out how to turn off the radio. Thanks.
  12. I got the pillar off nicely, but having trouble with the connectors at the ends of the antenna booster. I have tried to push a paperclip in "A" while pulling on "B" (see pic attached). Is that the correct way of unplugging this connector? I'm trying to do in place as not to put additional stress on the wire that goes to the windshield when it flops around.
  13. I found this old post about removing the A-pillar cover for a 996. I assume that is for the coupe. I also assume I have a couple of screws under the removable panel that holds the visor in place in my cabriolet. Is it the same procedure by pulling it inward?
  14. one more question if you would indulge me. The part numbers for the left and right boosters are 996 647 117 00 and 996 647 118 00. Are these superceded by 997 647 117 00 and 997 647 118 00?
  15. Thanks. Are the a-piller units identical? It appears I purchased the controller. Do you recommend that I change that first, then swap out the two antenna boosters if that does not solve the problem?
  16. Can someone help me with understanding the antenna booster(s) in my 2004 911tt? My radio has a nav unit it that is not recieving radio stations, and Porsche gave me a part number for a single booster that goes in the driver side A-piller for my VIN number, but I understand that the nav-unit radios take another booster. I bought one on ebay that is supposed to go with my car. Part number 996.667.124.00, which is a more "spuarish" rectangular black box, as compared to the one I'm use to seeing in my 2002 C2, which is white and more elongated and is located in the A-pillar. Is this the only booster in the car (some say this has two)? Where is this/are these located?
