  1. Hey guys, I'm in my fourth year of Engineering at the University of Warwick in the UK, and one of my modules requires me to produce a piece on project management. Specifically, we are required to look at any project that has been done in the past 10 years and analyze if it was a success/failure and why etc. One of the ideas I had was to look at the production and release of the Porsche Cayman, seeing as it's the newest 'new' model to come out of Porsche. However, I'm obviously not privvy to the data required to investigate the project management side of things, nor do I know if it actually is available. If anyone has information on the project of the Cayman, could they please let me know. I will be eternally grateful. :) Thanks.
  2. Could you go through a little more on this, as I think it would be best to remove the whole caliper considering I'm gonna have to sand the original paint job OFF and then repaint it by hand (just bought some paint off Ebay). What will I need to do after I replace the caliper? Add more brake fluid to the resevoir etc?
  3. OK, so about 2 weeks ago, I sprayed my calipers red... But they turned out not to be glossy and the decals didn't stick to them properly, so now I have calipers I am unhappy with. My plan (after I get my car back from the garage) is to redo the calipers, but this time, choose the right paint giving a glossy finish and to paint them by taking the caliper off so I know in the back of my head the whole caliper is red. So: 1) What red glossy caliper paint should I use? (I'm in the UK and I'd prefer a spray paint as opposed to a brush on one) 2) When taking off the calipers, as long as I don't interfere with the pistons, do I need a brake bleeding kit or anything? Or will taking them off and then putting them back on again not affect the brake fluid levels? 3) If I do decide to take the whole caliper off, how do I disconnect the brake line and what should I expect/be prepared for when I do disconnect it? 4) When removing the rear caliper, do I need to have the handbrake disengaged, or does this not matter? If I do need to disengage it, will regular chocks on each side of each front wheel stop the car from rolling as I raise the car from the rear? Thanks. :)
  4. I want to get a Bose rear deck for my box, but want to use an aftermarket 2 channel amp to power the subs and run the 2 rear speakers off my head unit. I'm told that the plug for the Bose rear deck is a "6 pin plug". Does anyone know what configuration these pins are? For example, what pins power what speakers, in order for me to retrofit it to accept power from my aftermarket amp and head unit? Thanks. :)
  5. Ahhh but I will end up cutting the carpet also, which I suppose can always be sewn back together. However, surely the sub would get ridiculosly hot being so close to the engine, regardless of the enclosure?
  6. Right, I've been wanting to install a Bose rear deck into my 97 boxster for a while now, because all I have are dash speakers. BUT, I can't do that without having an OEM porsche amp or modfying the wiring from an aftermarket amp to plug into the 6 pin plug of the Bose rear deck. If I opt for an OEM amp, I can't plug an aftermarket head unit (which I definitely want to do) into the amp without modifying the wiring from the unit to the amp. Following so far? :) So, I've had a crazy idea. Screw all the Nokia/Haes/Bose amps and subs, use my own Sony head unit... Plug it into a standard Sony amp, and plug that into a standard Sony sub. This will be no larger than 10", something like this for example, and build a custom enclosure to go between the seats. And by custom enclosure I mean pull back the carpet, cut a hole behind and then cut the same hole in the carpet. Now, I'm sure that I've missed something here, as THE ENGINE is generally in that direction. So the depth of this sub is 8.5", meaning I will need about 9" of clearance. Do I have enough 'free space' to drill a 10" hole in the middle of my car and put a thumping sub there? Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. :D
  7. I was looking under the seats and I can't find the plug to the motor. Is is the white plug with the green and black leads going in?? Thanks.
  8. My right electric seats weren't working on my '97 Box, so I check fuse box and sure enough, fuse has blown, so I replace it with a 30A (which is what is specified), move seat a little up and fuse blew. So put another in and as soon as I tapped the switch it blew. Happened 3 more times, then tried 20A, 15A, 10A, all blew. There was a 25A in there before, but obviously blew because I'm having this problem. What could be the matter?
  9. Ahhhhh, OK. Yes, the times when I've had the air con snowflake on is when it's **** cold outside. I tried it again this afternoon and it just seemed to right itself. So as long as there's no problem with the car, then I'm happy. Thanks a lot man. ;)
  10. Hey guys, I've just bought a 97 Boxster, and everything worked fine when I got it on Friday. Today, whenever I press the snowflake button for the AC compressor, the snowflake symbol just flashes on and then off again. If I hold the button down, the snowflake stays up on the display, but upon releasing the button, the snowflake disappears. Any ideas as to what the problem could be??
