  1. 2002 996 C2 6 speed currently 101,897 and runs great. Sounds great also and still looks great. I just did the RMS and the IMS (DOF TuneRS) and drive it often. Love this car.
  2. kbrandsma: Thanks for your reply. I currently have a CDR220 with the Bose amp in the trunk. No sure what stereo option I have. What I want is to get rid of the amp and OEM head unit. I want to get a nice aftermarket HU and run the wires from the HU to the speakers. I want to have the trunk with a clean appearance. I am not interested in rumbling my windows or anything so loud it is annoying. Mainly I was wanting information as what all years of the 996 will coincide with my 2002 since Crutchfield has not "researched" this particular year. If I look up a 2001, which they have researched, will this HU and harness work with my car? I assume it will but want to make sure since I will be doing this work myself. Thanks, Frank
  3. It would restart on occasion but other times turn over without starting. I am guessing at that time the relay was on the verge. Well anyway I am back driving the car and enjoying it. Thanks again.
  4. I stewed and pondered on this for 3 weeks and decided I could figure this out. Ended up being the Fuel Pump Relay..............a $9 part!! Thanks for the input.
  5. Hello all: I have an 02 911 Coupe and I want to change out the stereo as most do. Crutchfield says they have not researched this particular year car and have no fitment options for me. I want to do the install and have used them many times before. My question is: are the 996 from 1999 to 2002 (which I have read do not have the MOST fiber lines) the same when it comes to ordering the head unit, trim kit and the wiring harness? I want to remove the factory head unit and amp but for now still use the factory speakers. I do not want a Double DIN, no NAV, no Sirius. I do want........Blaupunkt or Alpine Single DIN, USB, that will play an actual CD and possibly Bluetooth. I would like to completely get rid of a mess in the front trunk area if at all possible. I am not interested in a loud booming system. Just a nice setup.. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you, Frank
  6. I am really hoping someone can help me out with this issue. I have an 02 Porche 911 Carrera with 101,151 on the clock, manual trans. I decided it was time to update the IMS bearing and the RMS seal was beginning to leak so I wanted to change that as well because I am very picky about my cars.........1. not leaking oil and 2. being very dependable and well maintained! So, after I finish this work that took me about a month because I could only work on it on the weekends, I get it all buttoned back up and I am excited because I am an extreme DIY'er and I felt like I had accomplished something and saved myself quite a bit of money in doing so. Anyway, I am set for my first test drive, everything was triple checked (timing, fluids, etc.) and so I am off. I only went for a short 5 mile drive and on my way back while at an intersection, my car suddenly dies! Like I had just turned off the key. Try to restart and nothing. Get a push into a parking lot, get out and check under the hood and all looks normal. About 2 minutes go by and I try to restart it again, and it starts right up. Get back home and go over everything. All is fine. Go out about 10 minutes later and it does this same thing to me 2 times again! After a few days of no sleep and pondering on what in the world is going on and after reading that since the battery was disconnected for so long that the DME may need to relearn or reset itself...... I decide to take another short drive, this time I am on a small local highway and it dies all of the sudden at 55 mph. I replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor thinking this was the problem. Drive the car for about 40 minutes with no issues and I am home free....right? Well, later that day I decide to take my daughter to softball practice in the 911 and needless to say it died on us about 7 miles from home but this time it will not restart! I had to trailer it home and now no one including me will drive the car unless/until it is fixed!!! While it was still on my trailer, one day later, I get home from work and decide to try to start it. It starts right up and runs fine. But I will not drive it until I fix this issue. :help: Any advice would be great. Against my better judgement, I am at a point where I am seriously thinking about taking it to a local Porsche shop to have them look at it. Otherwise, I will just be throwing money at parts that may not be bad....like the Cam Sensor....that was $140 and was apparently not the problem. Thank you, Frank
