  1. 18" now it has rear=285/30ZR18, front =225/40ZR18. I'm shopping too and I wish I could get the Michelin PS2 but they are not made in 285/30/18. There are not too many choices in a N rated tire in this size. PZero Rosso, ContiSport 2, Michelin Sport (old style). I have the Rossos now and I'll probably go with the contis next just for a change. The Rossos have been good and they're lightweight compared to most other tires in this size. The Contis are the same weight and are less expensive and are Porsche spec. I'll be replacing all 4 tires this time. I've read too many negative reviews of the bargain tires online, i.e. Sumi's, Hankooks.
  2. I'm wondering if I should replace my original spark plugs. Car has 20K and it's just over 4 years old. The manual states plugs should be changed at 4 years or 60K miles. It is a 2002 C2, 3.6L. Also, I've had some recent trouble with huge smoke clouds out the rear of my car during spirited club drives. It's happened twice. No redlining but I was running it at 4-5,500 rpm more often than usual in the twisties in the San Diego County mountains. The first time this happened was 1200 miles ago, I was able to drive it home ok and the next day the dealer replaced the oil separator valve under warranty. Then it happened again a week or so ago, bigger smoke cloud than previously (roughly 40x20 ft). Whitish blue smoke, definitely oil, not coolant. I was able to drive it home without any trouble. I did have smoke upon startup the following morning on my way to the dealer. This visit resulted in them telling me they couldn't duplicate the problem, oil separator looked fine and couldn't find any problem. They test drove it several times, ran it up to 5000 a few times and kept it overnight to get a cold start observation. It hasn't occured since in the past week since I got it back from the dealer. I doubt this could relate to spark plugs but I'm a layman trying to think of everything. This is unsettling because the car is now out of warranty as of a month ago. Thanks for any insight!
  3. Scott, I had it installed at a good independent shop near my house, Dennis Sherman Foreign Car which services BMW, late VW, Audi and Porsche. Great guys--honest, quick, reasonable and right near my house in La Mesa. $124 installed w/no electronics. If you were asking how much the PSE itself was, I paid $1500+$30 for shipping, no tax from Brandywine Porsche. You will love it, I really enjoyed it this weekend--way nastier sound.
  4. Got it installed Friday--fabulous, thanks again Loren! Jason in San Diego
  5. Loren, thank you. Any difference between the 03 and 01? In other words, any benefit I will be missing out on? Also, I should clarify that the post from 5/03 I was referring to was from funcarsonline. Jason
  6. I just received my PSE from Brandywine Porsche today via Fedex. I was hoping for some help to verify that the part #'s I received are correct and the most current. An old post of Loren's from 5/14/03 lists the muffler #'s for the "new" PSE as: 996 111 984 03 left 996 111 985 03 right Loren's post also lists the kit part # as 000 044 200 19 which is what my box says. However, them mufflers themselves show engraved part #'s: 996 111 984 01 996 111 985 01 Manufacture date looks like 7/29/03 if that helps. The manufacturer is Eisenmann if anyone is curious who makes these mufflers for Porsche. Maybe the part #'s were changed again since the 5/03 Loren post? It does look like mine have the larger bypass pipes that are inherent to the "new" PSE mufflers. This is for a '02 C2 Coupe, 6 sp and I am installing with no electronics. Thanks in advance for some validation! Can't wait to hear for myself if this mod is really all that! Jason
  7. Wow, thanks everybody. Perfect information. I will order the part right away before I drop quarters or pens down the hole! I really appreciate the quick reply because I was actually a little worried about this because I thought that the piece was probably supposed to have been included with the main part but was missing and thought I'd have to fight with the dealer about it.
  8. Hi, first post to this forum. Great tech info, I really appreciate everyone's input! I installed the center console delete piece yesterday. I ordered it from my local dealer part #986-552-113-02-A10. I have an 02 911 Coupe. After it was installed, I was missing the small (maybe 3x4") pvc/plastic piece that should fit in front of the shifter boot to cover a hole in the center console. It was never in the box I got from Porsche. Can anyone tell me..was it supposed to be included with the console delete or does it need to be ordered as a separate item? If I order it separately, any chance someone might have the Porsche part # for me? By the way, I really recommend this mod if you are at all bothered by the section between the dash and the center console containing the cd holder and in my case a blank space. It really got in my way and now I'm much more comfortable and the cabin actually seems more spacious having that big piece removed. The console delete piece fit together really nicely and the carpet color matches perfectly.
