  1. I have an 04 CTT and it was running OK until this morning. It decided to not crank. Radio, lights, and display panel were on. I know I have to check the battery. I would like to know which battery starts the car. I know I have two batteries in my car. Most people seems to pay more attention to the one under the driver seat. However, there is a link said the one in the trunk starts the car. Which one is this? Thanks for any suggestion. ALX5
  2. I am looking for another SUV that fun to drive, engaging, and responsive like my 955 Cayenne Turbo. I would like to know is there other option to choose beside X5M/X6M, RR supercharge and ML63 AMG or Audi SQ5. I know I can get another CTT but want to see if there is something else I can enjoy. thanks for the suggestion. ALX5
  3. Another things I found out today are: when I used the key fob to unlock it made clicking sound but not when I tried to lock it. the light in the door does not blink when I unlock it. the other doors lights do blink when unlock. ALX5
  4. I have 04 CTT and have been experiencing weird thing with the car. When the weather is hot the passenger door driver side won't lock whether I use the key or the key fob. I know it b/c the locking mechanism will not make sound and I try to open the door. It will open and the alarm goes off. When the weather is cold it will lock.I did try to use WD 40 spray into the door lock but it still does not work. Have anyone experienced this? Thanks guys.BTW, I did search the forum but did not see any links or info about this issue. ALX5
  5. What does PCA stand for? I doubt there is one in where I am at, Salt Lake City, Utah. thanks ALX5
  6. Will Gold-Meister tech qualify for it? I found a shop with a Gold-Meister technician ads.
  7. Hi Loren. If I have my VB replaced do I need to replace the solenoids too or it comes as a whole package. I read DIY VB replacement and saw they are two different things so I don't know if it needs to be changed as well or I can keep the old solenoids. Thanks again.
  8. to Enzo955: "What symptoms is your tranny showing?" It shifts to 5th gear at stop lights and stuck there. I have to stop the car, turn off, remove the keys then restart the car. To Loren: "An oil change and ------ would be less expensive than a new transmission." Issues happened after I got my CTT 90,000 + transmission serviced. I know it is just coincident. How do I convince a shop to do valve body. they told me they can't diagnose the transmission and do whatever the dealer suggest, and the dealer as soon as they see code with mechanical issues they suggested another transmission. I feel more confident in you and JFP's opinion than couple guys I talked to at my city. To Loren and JFP in PA: I am thinking about getting a transmission shop to rebuild my transmission. what do you think? Do I need specially a shop familiar with Porsche or any transmission shop would be OK. I did find a transmission 87k miles for 2400. thanks for your guys help. ALX5
  9. Hi JFP in PA My VIN is WP1AC29P14lA91824. I looked online and found two options: with turbo thru VIN 4LA93559 and another one. What does it mean? does it mean from ever what VIN to that VIN. My VIN is not in 935 series. The dealer gave me two numbers from my car: Type A4850 and serial EG307530. Should I look under these number. thanks again for your help and quick responses. ALX5
  10. How do I know which one is correct version of my car, 04 CTT. I talked to the first mechanic and he said he needs two numbers from my transmission in order to look for a correct one. Is that correct? He quoted me a 65000 miles transmission is $3000, shipping and labor about $2000. Total is #5k. I still wait to hear from another shop. Thanks for your help. ALX5.
  11. My 04 CTT was stuck on the 5th gear and I took to the dealer. I pulled the code 732. The dealer got the same code and they said it is mechanical issue. they suggested another transmission rather than a valve body. there also was a time I got code 731 and 730 from my car. I also did get a new TCU when all PRND light up. I talked to another shop and they said they don't have the capacity to diagnose transmission issue like the dealer does but they will look for me another transmission. ALX5
  12. I have 2004 CTT 97600 miles needs a transmission. I talked to the shop and the mechanic suggested selling my car for parts b/c it costs 5000 for a transmission and Porsche is not reliable and high cost of maintenance. I love German car and more familiar with BMWs. I have three of them, and not knowing much about Porsche. What you guys think? When I bought the CTT few months ago, I want to keep it for few yrs. Unfortunately, the CTT needs another transmission. Thanks in advance for suggestion and inputs. ALX5
  13. I have 04 CTT with two issues 1. I removed PCM and saw there is no connection to optical plug in the back of the PCM, and my PCM said "system error: no amplifier" My CD player does read the disk but no sound comes out. Radio work fine. I could not locate the amplifier in the back of my CTT. I know it is above the CDC. I don't have CDC either. is that b/c of no amplifier no sound comes out from CD player? 2. I did not see any connection to the green plug in the back of my PCM. Black, Curry and Blue colors all have connection to them. I think green plug is for GPS antenna, and Navi shows message "unreadable" Is this b/c of no GPS antenna so navi disk unreadable? Any help will be greatly appreciated. ALX5
  14. Thanks Loren. Let me give you a little back ground about my car so you can see more clearly what wrong with my car. Two days ago my 04 CTT stuck in 5th gear, no upshift or down shift. I took to an indy and he pulled a code 17105. He said it is input shaft speed inductive pickup. We ordered the part and had it replaced. While waiting for the part to arrive, I parked my car in the garage. One night I wanted to move it a little bit out of the garage and the car won't move. I moved the shifter around, turned off and on. The car won't move at 2nd gear. When it moved, it jerked strongly forward. I let the tech know about this. He was able to replicate the issue. He replaced the input shaft speed inductive pickup and "reboot by remove all the cable" he said. the car was driving fine last night but not as responsive as it was before. This morning, when I stopped at a light, it shifted to 5th gear on its own. I had to shift around to get to 2nd gear. I found an instruction how to reset computer gear in this forum and did it. The car was more responsive. Got to my work, parked the car, finished work day and drove home. The car shifted to 5th gear on its own again at a light. I shifted around the shifter and got it to move but PRND all light up but no gear selector light up. I drove home and felt the car did shift ups and downs smoothly. I used Durametric to pull the code and it showed the message above. Now, you mention P0721 is output shaft speed inductive pickup. why it said input shaft speed inductive in the message? in the table step 3 said replacing the control modules, will the tech know what it is if I print out this page and gives to him? BTW, he did mention if the car acting up again, I may need to have the transmission reprogram by the dealer. What do you think? I read on rennlist and 6speedonline that some people are leaning toward using PIWIS for more accuracy than using Durametric. What is your experience? I know I have asked a lot. I really appreciate your experiences and professional opinions. I am not a mechanic. I am just a guy with an attitude of wanting to learn/to know, and get things done by myself if possible. So pardon me if I don't communicate clearly about cars and its issues. thanks again ALX5
  15. today on the way home my 04 CTT acted up again. PRND all light up and no gears selected but the car shifted and down OK. I used Durametric to pull a code and it indicated "721 Input shaft speed inductive pickup-implausible signal, test conditions are not completed, fault is not currently active and causing a DTC light" Any ideas of what is going on? I searched this forum, 6speed forums, and rennlist forum but no information regarding 721 code. I saw a threat mentioned PRND light up with 1314 code only. Any help will be greatly appreciated. ALX5
