  1. I think ACP are doing a great job of developing some useful bits. 

    Aluminium is prone to galling in similar applications, they say that it is aircraft grade but don't give the actual grade which is a 4 digit code, eg 6061 is great for aircraft structures but too soft for this application.

    They say - Special hardening process and then coloured, this could be hard anodising.

    Without further details, eg grade and hardening process, evidence of testing etc; it's difficult to comment.

    The pumps rotating vanes are under the cover.

    The pump is a combined oil scavenge and vacuum pump, it needs tight tolerances between the rotating vanes and the cover and the shape (elliptical) to do the job, the trouble is if you go for a different material to combat one issue - corrosion, then you may have to deal with others, in the case of SS in this application galling.

    They probably manufactured them as a replica of the existing cover, to a high tolerance.

    Fitting, I don't know.

    The engineering is all about compromise. It will be interesting to see how the ally cover fairs as it will need redesign because of the different material properties. They will probably keep the same design in Ally and hard anodise, it will be interesting to see how the design copes with the differing thermal expansion of the ally cover and the rest of the pump.

    I lost connectivity to the site, in January after there was an issue with IP addresses, Loren fixed it, then we had a few family issues. 

     

    Anyway, I am back, still thinking about buying a system.

     

    I borrowed my friends Autel MD802 and it seems to be able to read most things.

     

    I will have it for a bit more time shortly and get a better idea of its capabilities. Though it won't do a handover.

     

    It did find a P0301 so coil pack number one will be replaced shortly.

    I have access to a friends AUTEL MD802 to read codes and the like, but I don't think that will do it.

    Sorry, neither one of those will do a vehicle handover - but I am not sure you need that either.

    Have you checked the fuses for seat heats and lights?

     

    If it turns out you do need a re-program then you will need to find a shop with a Porsche PST2, PIWIS, or PIWIS 2 tester as they are the only ones that have the factory re-programming code.

    The first thing I noticed was the front boot light wasn't working. I thought it was the bulb and it must have gone/blown, but I checked it and it was fine and there was 0v to it so I thought that a fuse must have gone. I hadn't noticed the seat heaters at that point.

    I took the fuse cover off in the footwell and read the paper guide and checked Row C F3 front end ctl un TRM15 light switch TRM15. But this was fine.

    When the Mrs noticed the heated seats weren't working I checked Row E E1, E2 & E3 but they are fine too.

    Being new to these cars it is abit of a learning curve.

    Am I looking at the wrong fuses?

  6. I have bought the Mrs a 2005 997 C2S for Christmas.

     

    I live in Bristol, UK.

     

    The battery gave out on the day after boxing day, with two cells down, so with only one battery supplier open I went to them and replaced it with a Yuasa Silver YBX9096.

     

    The heated seats and front boot light now don't work.

     

    I have ben advised that I need to do a vehicle handover to wake up the control modules.

    Will either of these do the job?
