Looked at a 2004 996 with 72,000 km on it. The test drive resulted in the display the message 'Selector Lever Not Engaged'. This was after having driven the car about 10-15 mins and shortly having switched it into manual mode, run it through the gears and then put it back into Auto. There was NO indication of a tranny problem otherwise. Getting it back to the shop, fiddling around with the shifter got it to display the message one more time, but it went away quickly after moving the lever more. I have a 2008 Boxster, 5 speed. I've owned this car from day one. This past weekend the original battery bit the dust. I had to push start it, to get it home. I stopped and added a few gallons of gas on the way home, cause the fuel gauge was not registering. I put the car on a trickle charger (cig lighter attachment) and replace the battery with an Interstate. The car starts and runs perfectly, everything works fine, the radio presets are all there, etc. Each time I start it, I get a churp and an error message, "system fault visit workshop"?
