Hi all, just purchased a 1961 notchback 1600s, I have never drove a Porsche until the day I purchased this car, got the bug now and i love Porsches more than ever now, the car is in very good shape, but i want to change all the fluids, grease all the parts, and do all the maintenance there is, the oil was so dark when I checked the level and it was all the way to max line of the stick, i would appreciate if you guys can tell me where to buy all the maintenance parts, and where can I buy the shop manual, and what are the things I should do, there is a small leak on the floor from engine very small, but a palm size of oil from transmission on the ground, thanks guys cheers😁
mellon man posted a topic in 996 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa)Out for a Great Fun drive yesterday in my old trusty 1999 - 996 2.5 Boxster, but when I tried to stop at a red light the brake pedal was hard as rock and car just would not stop (very lucky nothing coming the other way frightened the s**t out of me though) Drove very carefully there after, brakes were then sometimes OK sometimes hard but got home Thank God safely. Asked local Mechanic, who said it seems to be - because it was not happening all of the time it could be that there is some moisture in the Servo vacuum tube (and as the temperature was below freezing) and because it has such a long run from the engine in the back, to the servo pump in the front, the moisture could have frozen stopping the servo brake assistance pump from working. Could this be the case or could it be something else? Any help and advice would be very much appreciated as I am now to scared (and as there is no warning) to use car in case it happens again.
Just refitted the microswitch in the roof for my 986 boxster following a few problems with windows coming down. Only problem is the 2 retaining nuts that the torx head bolts screw into and are located in the metal windshield have both split and the bolts keep falling out. Is there an easy way to replace these or does the windscreen need to come out? or is there a simple solution?
