Nokia phone kit install

Just transferred a Nokia car kit brain, phone holder and mic from my boxster to my 2002 C4. I invested in the model specific mute kit which connects between the back of the becker CDR22 and the brain, it takes power, earth and switched power from the HU. My car has the sound package with the amp in the boot (trunk) and this mute kit is listed to suit. Fitted easily enough after stashing most of the wiring behind the A/C control fascia. Switch on, code radio and hey presto, no sound!! radio tunes in , CD/CDC plays but with no output through the speakers. Checked fuses row D 9 and 8 for radio and sound package, both fine, question is does the amp have its own fuse on or near the unit? any assistance gratefully received if anyone has experience of this install.
