Estimated cost to install Navigation in 987?

Recommended Posts

OK, guys, thanks for all of your assistance with the PCM/Navi questions! I'm assembling all of the parts and the next step will be for my dealer to do the install of the PCM/Navi system. Any idea on what kind of labor costs I'm probably looking at?

Also, what is the latest Navi CD I need? Is it included with part number 000-044-900-89?

Thanks!

Rob

Cost me about $1000 in labor to install navigation. This was to install: PCM2.1, GPS Antenna, and DVD-ROM.

Confused about your question regarding Navi CD .. you should be using a Nav DVD. Are you dealing with PCM2 or PCM2.1?

For PCM2.1 you will have to find out what version of software you are running on the PCM itself (no Mod, Mod A "Late Mod A" and Mod B ). This will determine which DVD you need to buy, best I can tell.

Level A software units can be updated from version 1 or 2 software to version 3 by inserting the update CD in the PCM CD drive and following the on screen instructions. When you have level 3 software loaded you can run the most up to date map disks without issue. If you have level B software there are upgrades also available , but these don't need updating to run the map disks as they should already be level 3. Just be aware that the DVD navi unit and the PCM must be of the same generation , the hardware cannot be mix and matched. Subscribe to this forum and you will have access to the TSB's . There you will find all the info you need on : install time , compatability of hardware, software revisions and updates of software.

Well worth the few dollars.
