engine differences

Recommended Posts

Good day, I am a recent new owner of a 200 boxster 2.7l. the car is my daily driver even in winter and performs great.. it has the sports package with 17"wheels ...stored away for winter and running the original 16"with 4 winter tires...

having owned a 944 turbo ( very fast!!!) and still racing a n/a 944, I am new to the Boxster and I have a few questions..

what are the differneces between the 217 hp engine and the later 225 hp ?? computer tuning only ?? are the euro computers any different??

I am also considering small improvements and looking at the EVO intake with cone filter and a chip upgrade and seriously interested in the powerchip.. anybody has comments on the products ??

Thank you,

Michel

1997-1999 was the 2.5 with 201hp. In 2000 out came the 2.7 with 217 and the 3.2 with 250. US numbers from my memory. In 2003 the 2.7 and 3.2 got an extra 8 hp. With the 2004 special edition the 3.2 gets an additional 6hp. The 2.7 and 3.2 have e-gas. The xtra hp is due to the displacement increase and what seems to be a cam change.

You cannot get great hp increases out of a NA Boxster motor like you can with your 944 turbo unless you supercharge it or turbo it. Jeff
