Common Part Numbers

Recommended Posts

When researching part numbers for Carreras and/or Boxsters, it is obvious that a part number starting with 996 is for the Carrera and a number starting with 986 is for a Boxster. What about part numbers starting with 999 or 900? Are they parts - usually nuts and bolts - that are common to both cars?

Specifically, I'm looking for the part number for the electrical connector assembly for the Carrera oil pressure transmitter. There is none listed in the Carrera parts manual....as far as I can tell. In the Bosxter parts manual, following the listing for the oil pressure transmitter, there is listed a "plug socket" (P/N 999 652 447 40) and a "connector" (P/N 999 652 444 12). Given the fact that the Carrera has two wires (one for the idiot light and one for the oil pressure gage) and the Boxster has only one wire (for the idiot light), is it possible that the plug socket/connector is the same for both cars and just wired differently to get the desired instrument cluster indications?

Cheers,

Bill
