Rear Screen Replacement (Ireland / UK)

Recommended Posts

I recently had the misfortune to crack the plastic rear screen, whilst lowering the roof on a sunny morning, but as the car was parked in the shade, the rear screen never warmed enough to become flexible. As I live in Ireland, with one Porsche dealer in Dublin, they wanted to replace the complete roof. Instead having searched the net, I discovered SoftTops in Coventry, England, who were advertising on eBay. I contacted them, and after getting confirmation than my insurance company would cover the repair (Euro480) I arranged to travel across the water to get it repaired. (Although I had to pay travel expences: Ferry Euro274, Petrol150). The guy in SoftTops, Tony, assured me that replacement would be equal to a new factory screen, and that I would be 100% satisfied! And he certainly wasn't wrong.

Well, it's now 2 weeks since I got it done, and it sure has gotten a real test with the rain here. It's better than 100%, if that's possible! It makes the whole roof look so fresh, especially as the car is now 9 years old.

So, if there is anyone in Ireland / UK who need to get a replacement rear screen, or any roof work done, be sure and contact Tony, who is a really friendly guy, and an absolute craftsman at what he does!
