Horn issues

Hi Guys,

Got a really annoying problem with the horn on my 964, I've had a search through the forum and found a similar problem with Boxsters, but couldn't find anything similar for the 964.

Quite often when in the car, the horn will just sound on its own. It started getting really bad so I pulled the fuse. Went to have a look today, but just couldn't reproduce it consistently. I've got the club sport steering wheel in my car and I'm thinking that its probably something to do with either the contact ring at the back of the wheel, or possibly the horn push. It does seem as though it will go off without the wheel even attached at times though! One weird thing, there are 3 screws holding the horn push in place, put the 3rd screw in and it sounds all the time, take it out and it only goes off occasionally. This leads me to believe that its probably the horn push causing the problem, but it will still go off occasionally with the wheel off, really odd. Has anyone else had anything similar? Could it also be something shorting out in the wiring going to the indicator/washer stalk? The only wire that I can see going to the horn is live, is this correct? Can anyone provide a wiring diagram of the horn circuit?

Any help with this would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers,

Jay
