Desnorkle a 987?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to desnorkle a 987? I had a 986 and it sounded great after the desnorkle. Does a similar mod exist for the 987?

pdog,

I had the same question and found some good data on ppbb's archives. I have an '05 987 - for going on two weeks now - and like the exhause note as it is, but am also considering a desnorkle if there are benefits. Keep us informed of your progress.

Cheers,

jsbkk

I just did this. The toughest part was simply removing the silver grill piece because the bottommost slat hooks into the black surrounding piece. I just yanked hard and it came out without breaking. I didn't notice a big difference in sound in a quick tour around the neighborhood so there doesn't seem like a big reason to perform this mod. :(

I just did it to and am not sure what the hub-bub is all about. As I understand it, as much as we’d all like to believe otherwise, there is a negligible performance improvement if at all. Yeah, if you’re winding it up all the time there’s a modest audible, pleasant exhaust tone, but thats about it.
