Hello!

I just put down a reserve deposit on one of these. It will be my first new Porsche, to replace my 2000 Boxster S.

ToolPants, have you got any more pictures? I'd much appreciate it if you could post them.

Try this link... there should be enough here to keep your 'Orange Fever' at bay :D

I just looked at the order guide. It says the limited edition comes with a sport exhaust. I did not see that on the window sticker yesterday or I would have looked under the rear and taken pictures.

Looking at the picture I took of the shfit I see a switch next to the spoiler switch. I guess that is for the sport exhaust, but from the angle I can't make out the dual exhaust tip icon.

Thanks for the extra photos guys, the car looks sweet!!

Perhaps I should make a new thread for this, but I am going to go ahead and ask here anyways since it involves my purchase of this car.

I'm looking for some advice about some of the extra products offered by my dealer.

I was curious if everyone buys these extras or avoids like the plague.

Extended Warranty ranges from 6 years/60k miles @ $2,910 up to 7 yrs/80k miles @ $3,917. there are probably more options, these are just some on the list I got.

Pre-paid maintenance for up to 40k miles, includes 4 oil changes and scheduled maintenance @ 20 and 40k miles, for $1,244 supposedly a 28% savings

Environmental Car Care is a Hendrick product that coats the car with some invisible paint shield for $698. This sounds tempting as my car may be in the sun a lot, but for some reason I feel hesitant. I'd like some reassurance this is worth it. There is also some interior coating as well as a coating for the softtop fabric made by Banoyl.

Diamon Fusion windshield protection @ $699. This supposedly changes the molecular structure of the glass to make it more damage resistant and hydrophobic. They said the door windows glass uses this but Porsche doesnt put it on the windshield to cut costs. This one also seems tempting to me.

Wheel and Tire hazard plan @ $649 covers $500 per tire up to $2000 max and $1000 per wheel up to $4000 max over the life of the plan which is 5 years.

If anyone has any experience with those products or just some advice in general for a somewhat nervous new porsche buyer it'd be much appreciated!

A dealer sold my wife the paint protection product.... to be honest it is rubbish, you would be better off purchasing a bottle of 'Rejex' and doing it yourself. I have since been warned off by fellow Porsche owners on any of 'Dealer add-ons' as they are really not worth the money.

You would not see the 'Sport Exhaust' icon as this car has the 'Sport Chrono' option and in doing so it's button replaces the exhaust button. The PSE is controlled using the same 'Sport' button.

Ok, not up on the new cars. Was looking for a switch like this on a 987 and I guess this 987 does not have the sport chrono option.

I have seen one of the Limited Edition Boxster and S version with this button, although I do not yet have a good photo. If I get a good one I will post it together with an under the car one.

Yep, the 'tailpipe' button is only for non sports chrono cars. Cars with sports chrono have the sports exhaust activated with the sports button.

I went back today and looked under the muffler. It does have a sport exhaust, and the switch says "sport." Got to learn about these new cars.

I was not suprised the car was still there. That color does not work on a little Boxstir, not even in Northern California. My fashion police statement.

I apologise for the hijack but I need to remove the tray found just below the switch refered to as 'sport', I want to install a small switch for a FM modulator. Try as I might I can see how to get the tray out, it looks as though the trim around the shifter might have to come off too?

BTW, I'm with you on the colour orange for the Boxster, doesn't quite work for me!

I wonder if Porsche made too many of these cars? I've called around and it seems like they arent selling out super fast. I'm still pretty sold on mine, but I might change my mind if I dont like the orange when I see it in person.

Some of the photos make the orange look like it takes on a really hot yellowish tone in the reflections of the sunlight, which is what makes me like it. The photos which are taken inside dealer showrooms with a stark white light make it look more flat orange and boring. I have to see one in the sunlight to decide!!

The color under tube lighting isn't great but when it's under sunlight it is stunning!! But then I am also biased (and perhaps color blind too!) as I must be the only other one to buy one!!!

I don't care about the color, but in person it looks ... orange.

When I go to the local events I sometimes see a green or orange GT3. Sometimes they park next to each other, like siamese twins. The green one looks ... green.

Pictures under fluorescent lights inside a showroom is not a true representation of a color.

Maybe Porsche will try green for the next 987 special edition. They already used up all Carrera GT silver paint they had for the 2004 986 version of a special edition, and used up orange for the 2008 special edition.
