  1. As far as dry traction goes, the PS2s were the best of the 3 Michelin tires mentioned here. Sure, the MPSS and the new PS4S are better in the wet, last longer, and are less $. But I only care about dry traction. I do miss the old PS2s.
  2. Might just want to replace it. It could be 12 years old and ineffective. Also add a tire plug kit to your car, and use that before you trying to use the sealant.
  3. I thought about this, but you've driven about 1,000 miles. Hard to believe the car would still have an air pocket after all of that. Your cap sounds good-to-go.
  4. To JFP's point, a few oils for you to consider are: Mobil 5W50 (Porsche A40 approved) Redline 5W40 Driven DT40 5W40
  5. Back in my 993 days, that's exactly how you do it. If the rear goes flat, you move the front tire to the rear, and put the space-saver-spare-donut on the front. Keep speed below 55 mph. Seems reasonible this would remain true on the 997.
  6. Only buy an OE Porsche water-pump in a "Porsche" box. Sunset is a great vendor. Also a good time to replace the thermostat and flush the coolant. You'll need about 3 gallons of Porsche coolant and 3 gallons of distilled water.
  7. Oh, one more thing, you could also consider buying/building a 991.2 and add the PowerKit. This may give you more flexibility, and an available open build allocation. I did this back in 2014, since the GTS was not released yet, and I wanted the extra 30 HP of the PowerKit. It was expensive, thought, at about $18,600. The 991.2 PowerKit is about 1/2 that price. Good luck. Fantastic cars.
  8. Getting a new 991.2 GTS now is going to be very-very hard to find. Most build allocations are gone, and Porsche is getting ready to tool-up for the pending 992. Drive a 991.2 with RWS and one without RWS. Then decide what is best for you. As for the sunroofs, look at each one, and decide. The interplay with your car color may also be a factor you consider.
  9. The 3rd rad is a good idea/mod for a track driven DE car, and/or a car that operates in very hot weather.
  10. That's just it. Don't let the car sit and idle. Turn the key, start the car, let it come off the high idle, maybe 60-90 seconds. And go. Keep the RPMs below 4,000 till the oil temps hits the 180s. Use a high quality Porsche A40 0W40 oil in the winter months.
  11. Start using an L&N Billet Magnetic drain plug. Be careful, the torque spec is only 19 ft.lbs. Also, on your next oil change, start doing Used Oil Analysis with places like Blackstone Labs. Go on Blackstone's web site and order the free test kits. I buy the actual tests in bulk of 6 and save a little money. How often do you change the oil? I'd suggest every 5,000 miles, and at least yearly (on a low mileage car).
  12. Have your friend look into Michelin Super Sports (I have these on my 991S) or the newer PS4s. Both great tires, and some are becoming "N" rated, though that's not exactly required.
