Ignition switch saga continues.. Ideas appreciated

Recommended Posts

After experiencing typical ignition switch symptoms I have replaced the ignition switch and the car still is still displaying ignition switch symptoms. (key has little movement to the right side, steering wheel is only able to turn about an inch or two in either direction (wheels are straight ahead) and most idiot lights and stereo remain on when key is removed. ( I had to really struggle to remove key with the original switch. Now that I have replaced the switch it is better but has limited movement to the right and cannot reach start position--now removal of key is easy.)

Does anyone have any ideas as to things to check to see if the switch is installed correctly, other parts that may be broken, etc.. Car is off warranty and located about 8 hours from the nearest dealer or I would just take it in to Porsche. Thanks in advance!

I notice that when installing the switch that I was possibly not making good contact. When you are putting the new switch in, does it kind of click and hold itself in place before you put the screws in or does it fall out and you have to hold it into place in order to put the screws in?
