Seat belt latch sensor - wiring diagram?

I have the dreaded airbag light, and I have done the searches and realize the most common problems deal with the belt latch contact and the ground below the seat. I will take care of the ground but I don't care about the belt latch switch and would like to know if this a normally open switch, that makes contact when I insert the seat belt? Can I cut the wires going into the latch and just connect them and not worry about it? Don’t really see the need to buy a new belt latch if I can just direct wire it and take it out of the loop.
