dension needing unswitched power

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have combed the site (and rennteam as well) to understand where I can tap into an unswitched 12V source near the NAV to install my Dension 500 without success. I have seen a few posts where installers use the power feed to the CD changer but no clear indication that it is unswitched. I have a very early 05 997S

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

I too have an early 05 997S. I installed my Dension close to 2 years ago and used the CD changer power harness as the source to my Dension. My 997S didn't have the changer but the harness/connector was there. To be honest I don't recall (my brain cells need an unswitched power source as well) if it's switched or unswitched but that should be easy for you to determine by test. In my case my IPOD is always connected and it's never had a dead battery so I suspect the CD changer power might be unswitched.

Good Luck w/ the install.

Arnie

I have a dension unit fitted in my 987S. The front luggage compartment is identical to the 997 so the wire tapping points are the same. The CD changer has a permanent live feed as does the navigation unit. From memory I think the power is the green red wire and the brown is the earth. I did a little write up on the 987 forum , you may want to take a look.
