Rattle

Recommended Posts

I have a rattle coming from the passenger door that sounds like the window is hitting against something when I go over rough road or bumps. Happens whether window is up or down. Pulled the panel and checked everything out. Made sure the window was snug in the window regulator clamps. Put everything back together still rattled. Opened it up again and adjusted the bottom adjusters on the window regulator. Buttoned it up again. Still rattled. Thought there seemed to be a little lateral play in the window regulator, so replaced that this weekend. Put everything back together a third time (whose counting). Rattle is still there.

Tried the electrical tape on the u-shaped door locking bracket (as someone had suggested in another topic). No help. Just required a little more effort when closing the door.

Any ideas?

I'm getting to feel like the Gene Hackman character in "The Conversation".

Thanks,

Joe

I think I've solved the elusive rattle. It turns out to be the retaining strip for the top. One end popped out of its socket and was dangling and this caused the rattle that sounded like the window rattling. Can't believe it was such a small thing that I should have discovered before investing the time and money in a new regulator. E-bay here I come.
