Will 997S calipers and rotors fit a C2 without modification?

A mostly copy of my response from the other forum:

If you are looking for a bolt-on front brake upgrade for the 997 non-S you can use the front set from a 993 Turbo - this is a common upgrade for the 997non-S. Suncoast even sells it as a kit for the 997 non-S with SS brake lines and everything else you need. You don't have to replace any suspension parts or master cylinder or bias settings for this upgrade. And it is half the cost of the Brembo front brake kit for the non-S.

It increases the swept area to 84.5cm-sq (on 325mm rotor) from 63.5cm-sq stock (318mm rotor).

(Note: stock S front brakes sweep 78.5cm-sq/330mm rotor, and the PCCBs squeeze on a massive 112 swept cm-sq per side... on a 350mm rotor).

The smaller the swept area - the more the pads heat up - the more the brake fluid heats up. Larger diameter rotors give more brake leverage - they need less pressure for the same braking. Less pressure - less heat - etc - etc.

But ask youself why you are doing it. Are you noticing a lot of fade on track days? Yes, the 997S brakes are bigger and should have less fade at the extreme, but the 997non-S brakes are not known to be poor either. They are bigger than the stock 996 Carrera brakes which are not considered to be POS equipment.

I've found that those monster brakes on the S to be a bit of overkill--like the 19" rims (and phony quad exhaust tips!); unless you track the car of course.

So you are saying the quad tips HELP at the track? Hmmm, I gotta get me some of them.
