emergency front lid pull on 987 boxster

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a 2007 987 with flat battery. Usual stuff, pull peice of plastic with contacts out of fuse box, attach battery pack with negative lead on striker plate of door, did not work. Now I need to open front lid using emergency pull, but the trim etc of the 987 seems neater then what I have read on the 986 (perhaps I mis understood (?)

do anyone have ideas on how to open the front lid?

Thank you

Alan

There should be a cable under the right front wheel well. You have to remove the plastic liner so you might need to jack it up to remove a few screws. Their is also a cable to open the rear lid behind the left tail light ... (if you can get it out with the lid closed)

I will get to it soon, but working under cars in this weather.... I know Irish weather not as extreme as American weather, but I like warm and dry!

Thanks again

Just for completeness I should reply to this.

It was not necessary to use the manual pull, the reason the hood would not open was a bad earth connection, as the door stop would not earth properly.

My brother, a mechanic, used either the retaining strap or the hinge as an earth, and then everything worked (including the alarm!!!)
