I have looked at maintanance checklists in this forum but still dont understand as my car first said Service at about 3000 miles (cannot rememebr now) and now it says service and there is 12k miles on the clock. it is not a problem warning as it started saying service in 1k miles, 0.5k miles etc etc. it also doesnt corresponde to any time intervals (manufactured in July, bought in August 2008). Any thoughts?

nothiing in service boook about what needs to be done.

Check in your maintence book. I dont know how it is in the US but in europe its 30.000 Kilometers or every two years. Its the number you are first to reach that you should go after.

If you read the book you should be able to see whats right for your car.

there is absolutely nothing in my book about 3k miles service. there is something in the book about changing oil every 10k miles but the way it is written one has to wonder whether it applies only to:

"Cayenne (V6): The multi-purpose display prompts for the oil change service*"

all i can think of is that it said service at 3k miles now +10k miles says service (meaning oil change). If that is the case do I now have to go to the dealer at 13k, 20k, 23k, 40k, 43k ..? that is too much maintanance to put it mildly

just for the record found on another forum that Cayenne 2009 (maybe even earlier ones) will display Service one year from the date that previous Service reminder was cleared or 10k miles whichever is earlier.

P.S. why do i bother answer my own post? maybe someboody esle will have the same question. Judging by number of responces i got for this simple question i am the only one with 2009 car...

from my experience, most of the VW group cars are displaying service after a year. Guess that P cars are following these rules also. so dont worry.

hope this helps.

there are some other here with newer models. its not about that. there are many other posts in which nobody is answering, so you need to get used to that :)
