Airbag light popped up today

Recommended Posts

Just driving along and bam! "Airbag Faulty" indicator appeared. So I have completed the search and read the TSB on 2 possible error codes. It seems to me from reading that this would have been a recall or at least was a known anticapted issue. Is this something the dealership will fix with out charge? I can only imagine the cost if they do charge. Does anyone of late know? The threads I saw were a couple years old.

Thanks

You will need the actual fault codes to be sure what exactly is wrong, there were some workshop actions in the past concerning airbag problems, contact your dealer for the cost.

had the same issue the other day, light is on, connected durametric cable. error: driver side buckle switch or something like that. cleared error, light was gone only to be back 10 min later, repeated process and light is back on again. went to dealer, he looked up my vin (2009MY Cayenne T) and said that software on both car and PCM have to be updated !!! (i have been to 5 different dealers in last 6 months for various reasons and not a single sucker told me that there is an upgrade that has to be done). booked for next Friday, will post results

went to dealer, upgraded DME and airbag light is now gone. Will see if it stays that way. They have also upgraded PCM3 to version 1.40. In addition to that they found that coolant is leaking somewhere.

Seriously, all this "quality built" by Porsche is total HS. How can a car with less than 15k miles have coolant leaking? This is on top of pump leaking oil (porsche claims it is normal except my front wheel is all in oil).

Some DFI engines suffer with a water leak on the thermostat housing/piping, i would take a look in this area. What do you mean with "on top of pump leaking oil"? If you mean the dual function pump (power steering/hydraulic sway bar system), it's definitely not normal, no leak is normal.

As RFM stated no leaks are considered normal and the coolant pipe has been updated. Can you give us more details into the problems you are having?

Coolant problem will be clear a week from now once the dealer gets inside and find the leak. So far they can smell coolant and had to top it up but no drips visible so hard to know. My car is Turbo 2009 BTW. Leaking oil - left turbcharger TSB(2130). Dealer fixed once already but the bumper and wheel is still in oil and TSB says dont replace anything just tighten it up.

P.S. airbag light that they fixed doesnt comeup anymore but seat belt buckle switch must be dead because even if the seat belt is "on" there is red light with a wonderful chime all the time now

conclusion of the trip to a delaer: coolant pipes changed due to crack (this is cars first winter where it only went to -15c), seatbelt buckle changed, turbocharger hose repalced, pdcc pump changed. one consolation all this is still under warranty
