Any Tips on Installing Plastic Molding?

Recommended Posts

I purchased wheel arch molding set from Porsche with a plan to install it by myself. I made the purchase decision because the pieces seemed to go on the body by double sided tape and it seems that I could handle the work myself. The question I have to the forum members is whether there is any prep work on the body that I need to know before I peel the backing paper from the adhesive tape on the back of the plastic pieces and put them on the body of the car. Do I need to do any of prep work on the painted surface? Any tips or advices in aligning the pieces to the location?

Assuming he surface is free from chips I would just make sure its very clean and prep with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaning wipes. The mudflaps go on with double sided but they also have screws.

+1 on the Isopropyl Alcohol. Dish soap can leave a residue. Wash it then clean the area well with the alcohol and be sure it's dry. Position very carefully, you'll only get one chance.

The red highlighted sentence is part of the reason why I posted this question. Would there be any know-how in positioning the piece properly?
