Routing Cable From The Battery To The Rear

Recommended Posts

I want to run cable from the starter battery under the seat to the well under the space saver tyre, where I am installing a second battery (I don't have the bose) in my 2010 Cayenne.

Does anyone know if there is a route to do this (as I undertand earlier models had a battery there) or can someone point me in the right direction? I am hoping to sort it out before I have to access the battery to minimise pulling things apart

I dont think its as simple as you think. 03's had logic in the starting system to switch between batteries under certain conditions, without that you just have 1 big battery which does not serve the same purpose. For instance. all the services were powered by the rear battery and the starting was done by the front battery. When the starting battery had problems you could go thru a switching routine on the ignition switch to select the services battery for starting.

I don't intend just connecting them in parallel.

I will install an isolator/controller between the two batteries. My LR3 had a similar smart charging system to the Porsche. I installed a Traxide unit (the only LR approved dual battery controller) between the starter and the auxilliary battery. This controls the charging of the aux battery, ensuring that the starter is at full charge before allowing a charge through to the auxilliary battery. It also isolates the starter battery if the auxilliary gets too low, to prevent flattening the starter and to protect the car's electronics.

The Porsche's electronics won't even know the second battery is there.
