928 S4 Flooding?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a friends 928 S4 that has a disturbing issue. He has replaced many of the obvious items before asking for help. I know I can get to the bottom of this issue but the guy can't afford lots of time or money so I'm reaching out.

This car can be started (some swearing and coaxing helps) and it runs but poorly. Seems like half the engine is dead, however, after running it for a while it simply won't restart until the fuel pump relay is pulled and the throttle is floored. The engine will then run for a short while.

I find this very strange on a fuel injected car. How does it flood? And it must be a huge "leak" since it runs without fuel pressure for a short while.

Any direction from you guys would be welcomed.

Thanks, pc
