Columbia, Sc - Servicing

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone.

I would like to know if anyone knows who can service, change oil, etc. my '05 Boxster in or around Columbia, South Carolina. I have had repair work done to replace the string tensioner in the top and alarm problems fixed at my local Porsche dealer, but now find the top making a bad rubbing/cracking sound as it enters the storage area when being put down, so not sure about continuing to use them. Also, the little silver plastic piece on top of tiptronic shifter (to move it into Drive and whatnot) completely fell off after I picked it up from the last service, and they had failed to reinstall something which caused a terrible rattle while the engine was on but the car not moving. It was after the mechanic had left and the sales person had to tighten up something where seatbelts are connected for me to even wish to drive it home. So, again, I just think things like this are sloppy and would prefer to go to a reputable place who can do the work right the first time and give me confidence in them. Please let me know if you know of someone who can help. Thanks.

Quadgirl,

I've used Doc's Grrrage in Lexington (359-6606) for a long time and had pretty good service. Haven't been there for over a year but they'd changed ownership the last time I was there - they still did a good job. The main drawback is that they're off I-20 W @ Highway 6 - a long way out, but they say they have shuttle service now on their web site (www.docsgrrrage.com). I like the fact that they don't look for things to fix.

Am taking my 911 out there tomorrow and will let you know how it goes if you'd like.

Thanks, Joe. It has been some weeks now, but if you have time, please advise about your experience with them. I don't mind the location and always appreciate those who don't look for problems. Thanks again for replying!
