I've seen a boxster burn up new fuel pumps before, in a matter of minutes too. I'm not sure exactly what happens but I've ran into this problem before, I burnt up two brand new, out of the box factory fuel pumps. I replaced the pump, took the car for a nice road test, let it sit for an hour, came back to start the car and sure enough, no fuel pressure, new pump was siezed. Replace the pump again, road test, let it sit, go to start it up, no fuel pressure, second new pump was seized! Drain the tank completely and filled with 10 gallons of fresh gas, no problem since.

Its weird, but I've seen it....
