paddle shift steering wheel

has anybody here retrofit installed a paddle shift steering wheel? it seems like a plug and play but there are different opinions on wheter a connection to the piwis to reset something is needed or not. i am converting to paddle shifters and i am a diy guy but dont want to mess it up if it need electronic intervention to install...maybe our technically knowledgeable brothers can give their opinion.

The steering wheel will need recoding after upgrade so it needs either a dealer or indepenent with PWIS equipment to do it. You can fit the wheel yourself but would need to drive on the lever rather than buttons / paddles until it was recoded.

it can also be fitted to the earlier tiptronic 997 on the gen 1 by the way. I've seen a cayman tiptronic with a PDK paddle shift wheel. This also requires a new steering wheel electronics module and airbag for the wheel , so its not a cheap option.

Try contacting suncoast they sell the parts and have all the details of whats involved.

thanks berty 987. mine has pdk so i think i wont be needing any additional modules. just verifying if PIWIS connewction is at all neccessary when installing this upgrade

Paddle shift for pdk wheel no PIWIS programming required.

If adding multifunction or heated wheel that will need programming.

go the dealer to install it for $50 but the lights indicating sports plus does not light up. isnt PIWIS required to turn this feature on? my original wheel does not have any lights but car is a 2010 c2s. i think there is a feature that needs to be turned on because i have seen regular wheels with pdk light on them on the top portion of the air bag module.
