Hi all and here goes my first post on here. After 12+ months of looking, I'm considering taking the plunge, buying 987 Boxster-S but I'm getting a bit hung up on a PCM2 problem I've discovered.

The car left the factory with phone and nav options and I'd quite like to have them but now they're not there. A little digging and some very helpful people at the Chester OPC (UK) revealed it had the following:

PCM telephone control unit serial number: 42***********43**

P16 Porsche communication management

440-Antenna diversity from MY 2003

610- DVD navigation package for Europe

666- PCM2 telephone (GSM)

670-PCM2 Navigation (987, 996 and 997)

689-Preparation of CD-changer

But on inspecting the car there's no CD unit in the cubbyhole in the front boot, just some dangling cables.

The SIM slot apparently can't accept a SIM card, it's more like a dummy pop-out bit (seems odd)

At power-on the PCM2 screen mentions the telephone and nav failure (I can't remember the exact wording).

There's an empty 2005 sat-nav CD case in the glove compartment.

I had a specialist do a pre-purchase inspection and his diagnostics reported "Cannot communicate with PCM, fault code C141".

I suspect there's been some swapping between cars, perhaps to make a newer, lower mileage car more attractive and to justify the recent price drop of the car I'm looking at.

What do you think is actually missing and can it be easily put right.

Is the diagnostics failure a worry, (sorry I don't know which kit he used)?
