Sudden Coolant Loss (But Still Have Coolant)

Recommended Posts

I was doing some spirited driving last week and started spewing coolant all over the highway. Steam coming from the engine bay. Towed home since I was ready low coolant on the dash. Got the nerve to take a look at what was wrong today and noticed that the expansion tank was half full. I hadn't spilled all my coolant. My bright idea was to remove the coolant cap. As soon as I did that, coolant started spilling all over the ground (It hadn't spilled even a bit when the cap was on). Took a picture of where the coolant was leaking. I'm not sure that this is where it was leaking from, but it is definitely forward of the radiator and I believe it might be the hose or the coolant cap? Not sure. Please advise TIA?

Had the very same issue a while ago. It even might be mentioned somewhere on Renntech... ;)

It was a hose, but on the right hand side of the car. Probably something similar in your case.

A few yars back, I had to replace the coolant tank. Kind of a known issue.
