brakes will not disengage after booster change

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i went ahead and changed the brake booster, followed the instructions (very helpful) on removing the old brake booster, I started up the car went for a quick run and everything seemed great, then after I parked the car and re-started to go on another little run down the road the breaks would not disengage, i limped it back to the garage, by the time i pulled in, the brakes got so tight i could barely move it forward enough to get in the garage.

What could cause the brakes not to disengage at all? It was hard to get the master cylinder out, however, we notice no kinks or breaks in the lines, vacuum still works great, the after market booster seemed to have a shorter thread, but that did not effect the brakes once everything was pulled back, the brake fluid overflow did come out of the resivoir, but we put back in and it holds fine.

Putting in the new brake booster appeared to be fine, it took a lot of work to get it in there, and put the master cylinder back into place. so I am confused.

Bleeding would only be if i did not get enough pressure correct?

The brake booster was filled with water so that explains that, any thoughts folks? I would hate to have Porsche do a house call and pay big bucks for something i should be able to correct.

Any thoughts?
