Hi

This my first time

Can anybody tell where to buy, and approx cost, a high quality car bra, for my 1999 gt3

I assume they don't rub and damage the paint

Living in australia i assume the only difference between cars sold in australia and the rest of the world is the size of the front number plate

Neil;

The Porsche "Tequipment" catalog features many factory front masks.

They come with an outline in the vinyl where the license plate goes-so if you have a front plate, you follow the stitching and cut out the hole.

They are probably made by Colgan for Porsche, and just badged with the Porsche crest and reboxed.

There are many warnings included in the box about possible abrasion and clouding of paint-so yes- it is possible that the mask will damage the paint if you are not careful with it

The mask for a 996tt was about $100.00.

I would look into someone local installing a clear bra using 3M or Venture material. Do a search on the internet for clear bras or go directly to the mfg sites and start there. The "old style" bras look like hell (to me), require maintenance, and often damage the paint.

I got a colour matched bra from Speed Lingerie last year in arctic silver with matching covers for the mirrors. Fit very well and the screens keep a lot of crap out of the radiators. We had a bumper crop of grasshoppers here last summer and they would have totally clogged the radiators after a road trip without the covers. Not real cheap, but quality stuff. Better than the old Colgan bras I've used over the years since my first Porsche in 1971...

I have a Stonguard clear protective layer (similar to 3M) which has worked well on previous cars. Unfortunately I got it done at a shop close to where I bought my car that hadn't done many in the past and it's starting to peel in certain areas. This is definately non-typical though. The Stonguard on my previous 911 never peeled in the 5 years I owned it. Just depends on the shop that installs. The 996 has significantly more curved surfaces which seem to be where it gets tricky.
