Probably the most important thing is to have an experienced Porsche mechanic drive the car, for an extended period if feasible. If there are any serious issues he should spot them fairly quickly and perform follow-on tests if necessary. These cars have few problems although a high mileage car may exhibit need for some repairs. Perhaps the most common issue is oil leaks which may involve some moderate expense to resolve depending on their source.

This is probably to late an answer for you but it's very important. DO NOT even consider buying one unless in addition to the pre-purchase inspection by an experienced Porsche mechanic you get cylinder balance test. That's test is good but dealers have a scope they can insert into the spark plug hole and see the condition of the valves, combustion chamber and piston tops and cylinder walls. Its VERY IMPORTANT to do this for your peace of mind and wallet.
